Our Victorian Gardens Cattery policies, contract, prices and kitten care kits for our Persian and Himalayan kittens are detailed on this page. Our Persian and Himalayan sires and dams are extensively health and genetically screened in order to ensure the health of our kittens. Effective February 24, 2017, we now offer a generous Two Year Genetic Health Guarantee. As of October 12, 2013, we offer a Six Year HCM Health Guarantee on our kittens. We provide a very nice kitten care kit that is described below. We have thoughtfully and carefully planned each item that comes in our Kitten Care Kit in order to aid in keeping your new baby well groomed and providing food and toys which the kitten is use to at our Cattery. If you have any questions about our policies, contract, prices or kitten care kit, please contact us.
We reserve the right to refuse to sell to anyone at any time.
Victorian Gardens Cattery has the express right to cancel a Sales Contract with a Purchaser, if at any time prior to a cat or kitten leaving the Cattery, Victorian Gardens Cattery determines that the placement of a kitten or kitten with the Purchaser will be harmful in any way to the kitten, cat or Victorian Gardens Cattery. All monies paid to Victorian Gardens Cattery towards the purchase price of the kitten or cat, will be refunded to the Purchaser if Victorian Gardens Cattery cancels this contract under this clause.

In the past, traditional doll faced kittens were CFA's breed standard before they changed to the extreme face (pushed in nose). Unfortunately, the CFA Persian category requires Persians/Himalayans to have the extreme face in order to be shown in their shows. If you have a doll faced kitten you would like to show, you may consider showing it in the Household Pet Category, if allowed by CFA or in TICA shows.
Extreme Faced Kittens: Regarding extreme faced kittens ... one of our current sires, Willie Wonka, does have the extreme face but his nostrils are large and he has a small nose bridge, so he does not have the health/breathing related issues that many extreme faced Persians/Himalayans have. We consider Willie Wonka to have the perfect, healthy, extreme face nose.

REVISED FEBRUARY 3, 2021
Age Limit Policy: We do have an age limit policy for adopting one of our kittens or cats. This age limit is based on a human life expectancy rate of 80 years old plus a Persian cat's life expectancy rate of 15 years old. In order to adopt a kitten from us, you must be 65 years old or younger. For an adult cat, the age limit is on an individual cat basis and is based on probably remaining years life expectancy of the cat minus the 80 year old life expectancy of a human. Due to recent problems we have had with applicants and one adoptive family, we will not deviate from our policy.

Kitten Application: A Kitten Application must be filled out before a nonrefundable kitten deposit can be taken on a kitten and/or before being placed on the Priority Wait List, or before a visit to the Cattery is made. We do check with your veterinarian for a recommendation. Once we have done all of our reviews on your application, we will contact you and speak to you more thoroughly. Please see the Kitten Application Page which can be viewed and downloaded in Microsoft Word. If you need the Kitten Application in a different format, please contact us.
Victorian Gardens Cattery has a policy not to adopt out one of our kittens to a home that has not had its cats and kittens tested for feline diseases such as FELV and FIV, vaccinated and up to date on vaccinations. Most Veterinarians perform the testing before they will provide vaccinations to a kitten or cat. A purebred kitten, even though thoroughly vaccinated, has a weaker immune system than a purebred adult cat. We do not want to put any of our kittens in harms way by adopting it into a home that has unvaccinated or out of date vaccinated pets or has had cats that are positive for FELV. If you have any questions about our policy, please contact us.
Victorian Gardens Cattery breeds for CFA Persians and Himalayan Breed Standards. We will specify if the kitten is Pet or Show Quality. At times, we will hold a kitten and await further development in order to assess and classify the kitten as pet or show quality. This could include waiting for eye color development, nose pad position to the eyes etc. After the appropriate time for assessment, the Priority Wait List will have first picks on the litters. If any kittens remain after the Wait List picks, they will be placed on the Available Kittens Page.
Nonrefundable Kitten Deposit: Once your have received a verbal or written approval of your Kitten Application, you will need to pay a nonrefundable kitten deposit of $250.00 in order to hold a specific available kitten or to reserve a kitten for upcoming litters through being placed on our Priority Wait List. You can pay this deposit via: Zelle, US Postal Money Order or Paypal with a $8.00 Paypal Fee. We accept this nonrefundable kitten deposit from families as a show of their good faith in their committed to purchase a kitten from our Cattery. We plan our litters based on our Priority Wait List. A refund will not be provided on the nonrefundable kitten deposit due to a families change of mind or the family adopting a kitten from another source.
You will receive an invoice receipt for your Kitten Deposit, along with a copy of our Victorian Gardens Cattery Sales Contract and the HCM Addendum. If you know which kitten you are getting, we will have the Sales Contract filled out. You must sign the Sales Contract and return it to us prior to the pickup of your kitten or at the time you have finalized the choice of your kitten. We will then send you back your signed contract. Final payment is due on or before the pickup date at the Cattery in cash, or through Zelle at least a week prior to pickup.
Cancellation: Victorian Gardens Cattery has the express right to cancel a Sales Contract with the Purchaser, if at any time prior to the kitten leaving the Cattery, Victorian Gardens Cattery determines that the placement of this kitten with the Purchaser will be harmful in any way to the kitten or not a good match for the kitten or the Cattery. All monies paid to Victorian Gardens Cattery towards the purchase price of the kitten, will be refunded to the Purchaser if Victorian Gardens Cattery cancels a contract under this clause.
Visitation: Once our kittens are a certain age (mainly one week after the first set of shots at 9 weeks old) we do allow for visits to our Cattery for those who have placed a deposit for a kitten and those who have reserved a particular kitten. These visits will give you time with the kittens in order to pick out the kitten that is right for your home or to bond with the kitten you have reserved. Our strict guidelines for visiting our Cattery are as follows: All shoes must be removed prior to entering the Cattery; freshly laundered socks and clothes must be worn (these newly laundered items must not have come into contact with any animals); hands must be disinfected and sanitized prior to holding the kittens. We do request that your clothes be freshly washed to prevent viruses/bacteria from being carried into our Cattery on clothes and shoes. We deeply care about the health of all our kittens and cats at our Cattery. We are a closed Cattery so as to not prevent unwanted viruses or bacteria from entering our home or Cattery. A Purchaser is allowed regular visits to the kitten. These visits to our Cattery will help the kitten and your family bond and aid in the adjustment to a new home. Our kittens are not released until the 13th to 16th week, depending on how mature the kitten is determined to be.
Boarding: Buyer will be charged a boarding fee of $12.00 per day for each day that a kitten stays at the Cattery beyond the posted date that the kitten is eligible to leave, which is normally on the 13th week birthday. If getting two kittens from two separate litters but picking up at one time, the boarding fee will be $8.00 per day for each day that a kitten stays at the Cattery beyond the posted date that the kitten is eligible to leave. A separation Invoice will be given for boarding fees and must be paid in advance of the kitten's 13th week birthday via Zelle, USPS Money Order, Paypal (w/ Paypal fee) or cash. If any additional vaccines are required during boarding, the Buyer will be charged at the rate of $25.00 for a 3 in 1 with Leukemia Vaccine or a regular Rabies Vaccine and $45 for a Purevax Rabies Vaccine. If a regular, non Purevax, Rabies vaccine is given, it will be provided by our Local Veterinarian at the tip of the tail.
USDA Airline Health Certificate: If a kitten or cat is to be flown in cabin on an airplane, the Cattery will charge the Buyer, a $50.00 fee for the airline required USDA Health Inspection Certificate from our local Vet. The Buyer will be provided with a separate invoice for the Health Certificate. Health Certificate must be paid i4two weeks in advance of the kitten's 13th week birthday using either Zelle, USPS Money Order or cash.
Transportation: "We accept pickups or delivery in-person only". This assures our compliance with The United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA/APHIS)’s finalized version of new federal regulations. As of September 17, 2013, the sale of a kitten from Victorian Gardens Cattery can not be made sight unseen. A face to face meeting between the Cattery owner and the adoptive parent or their representative must be met some time during the transaction or at the time of pickup. "A face-to-face transaction includes one where the seller and buyer are physically present and the buyer has the opportunity to observe the animal before taking custody of it". (AKC)
Advise and Guidance: While Victorian Gardens Cattery graciously provides information gleaned from public sources about the care of kittens/cats as a service to our customers, we are not providing medical advice. We are responsible only for illness and/or death of a Victorian Gardens Cattery cat or kitten as outlined in our contract..
Indoor Only: Per our contract, our kittens are required to be indoor kittens/cats only. If you can not abide by this requirement, please do not buy one of our kittens. We love each and every one of our kittens and want them to live healthy, happy, safe and long lives. Having an outdoor kitten/cat greatly diminishes their life expectancy as well as the quality of their life. A Sales Contract and Genetic Health Guarantee must be signed by Purchaser and Victorian Gardens Cattery stating the following:
- "Purchaser agrees by signing this contract, the above named kitten will be kept indoors and will not be allowed outdoors. The only exception to this clause is to allow a kitten/cat to be enclosed in a high quality, heavy steel framed, protected, Pet Stroller for the use of strolling your kitten/cat in order to provide outdoor fresh air, entertainment, and brain stimulation. The kitten or cat can not be left unattended in the Pet Stroller. If it is found that the kitten/cat has been allowed outdoors beyond the exception clause, the Health Guarantee found in this contract will be automatically voided."
Declawing: Per our contact, our kittens/cats are not allowed to be declawed. Besides being inhuman, it can set up a kitten or cat for undue stress which could lead to the deadly disease of FIP. As such, our contract does not permit declawing. Declawing of one of our kittens or cats will void the One Year Health Guarantee as well as the Six Year HCM Health Guarantee.
Essential Oils: Per our contact, our kittens/cats are not allowed to be around essential oils. Due to the toxicity of essential oils to a kitten or cat, the buyer of one of are kittens or cats agrees to not use Essential Oils in kitten/cat supplements, household cleaning products or in diffusers in the home, unless expressly authorized by a Licensed Homeopathic Veterinarian. Essential Oils can cause severe internal damage to a kitten or cat's nerves and vital organs. If it is found that Essential Oils have been allowed around our kittens or cats, all Health Guarantees will be automatically voided.
Elective Surgery: In our Contract, Purchaser agrees to not have any elective/optional surgery on a kitten until it reaches at least nine months old. The exception to this clause is for the surgery of spaying or neutering, which must be performed between the 6th and 7th month birthday of the kitten, preferably nearer to the 7th month birthday. Due to the stress caused by surgeries on a purebred kitten whose immune system is weaker than an average outside adult cats, the stress of any surgery can bring on the deadly disease of FIP. We have never had one instance of FIP in any of our kittens, and it is our full intention never to have it in our Cattery kittens. As such, if it is found that one of our kittens had an elective surgery prior to its nine month birthday, the One Year Health Guarantee is voided. Our policies and guidelines may seem strict but they are to protect our kittens and ensure they have a long, healthy and happy life.
Grooming Care/Vaccines: The Purchaser will need to provide a loving and safe home for the kitten, groom their kittens/cat fur daily, gently clean around their eyes daily, give the kitten hairball treatment on a regular basis preferably weekly, provide a good quality premium dry or wet kitten/cat food, get a 3 in 1 or 4 in 1 vaccine at 16 weeks old and get a nonadjunctive rabies vaccine shot (if possible) such as Purevax when the kitten turns 16 weeks old (if required in your state) and then get him/her spayed or neutered between 6 and 7 months of age, preferably nearer to the 7th month birthday. It is critical that the 3 in 1 or 4 in 1 vaccine should never be given at the same time as the Rabies vaccine and/or a Spay/Neuter Surgery. Due to a kittens weaker immune system, giving a Rabies Vaccine along with a Spay/Neuter and/or regular annual 3 in1, or 4 in 1 could stress and compromise the immune system of a kitten. Our contract includes a provision that a Rabies vaccine can not be given at the same time as a 3 in1 or 4 in 1 vaccine and/or a Spay/Neuter Surgery and the vaccines must be separated by 2 weeks a apart. Failure to comply with this provision in the contact, will void the One Year Health Guarantee. Please do not over vaccinate your new kitten after the 16 week period. They have been give two complete vaccinations prior to their 13th week. One year after their last kitten vaccination, you will need to get your cat revaccinated. Please do not skip this process since it appears to set the permanency of their immunity for life. There is some discussion going on in the Breeder and Cat community that after the second year of vaccinations, the cat may then have immunity for the rest of their life or may only require the Leukemia shot once every third year. The decision to give your cat an annual vaccination after the second year is an individual decision but we due recommend an annual 3 in 1 or 4 in 1. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
