MERRY CHRISTMAS
from
Our Bundle of Love Kittens
December 21, 2012
Our whole gang here at Victorian Gardens Cattery want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of this time of year, we remember the real reason for this season. It is the birth of a baby boy in a manager in Bethlehem, 2012 years ago. That baby boy was Jesus Christ, our Lord. He is our hope and peace as we enter this new year ahead of us.
Our bundle of love kittens loved their Christmas photo shot. They just wanted to snuggle in their fleece plaid blanket in the basket and sleep. Clockwise is Sweet Annie, Samson, Nathaniel and Solomon. You can see the full Christmas Photo Shoot in Our Nursery. These kittens are just too precious. They are doing great and growing so fast. You can hear their feet running around in their Toddler Room upstairs. It makes us smile. Hope these pictures put a smile on your face.
Merry Christmas from the Gang at Victorian Gardens Cattery

THAT JED!
A 2012 Christmas story from the Jacobsons:
Sweet Jediadiah, Cream Persian
"Our Jed is up to his usual tricks so I thought I would share. For days bows have been disappearing from the tops of packages. I am a "cat mom" going back years so they were well taped! I could not even find them in the room so assumed one of the cats had pushed them under something while batting them around and a thorough vacuuming would locate them. Yesterday morning I was up really early and sitting by the Christmas tree lights having my coffee. I noticed Jed prowling around the Christmas tree and before I could blink an eye -- off came a bow. I told him no -- got the bow -- taped it back on -- SECURELY and sat down to finish my coffee. For the next hour we played this game -- Jed pulled off bows, while evading capture, and I stuck them back on -- saying, "no Jed each time". I went to the kitchen to get a WARM cup of coffee and when I got back Jed had stretched out across a couple of packages and was sound asleep -- all worn out from his bow stealing escapade! And, of course, looking like an absolute Angel! What a Jed!"
December 12, 2012 - 6 Week Birthday for Primrose and Willie's Himalayan Kittens
For those faithful followers, supporters and watchers of our babies, we have just published a new video of Primrose and Willie's 6 week old kittens. Today marks their 6 week birthday.
The kittens are doing fabulously. This is the most carefree litter. Solomon weaned himself right on to Royal Canin BabyCat. The other three are still being weaned. Tonight we will give them a special treat of a Tuna packet to see how they do. They are all litter boxed trained. No messes or accidents at all. They were moved to the Toddler Room over a week ago and are thoroughly enjoying all the new space and toys. They had their first deworming last week and are getting a different deworming medication this week. They are growing up so fast.
Hope that you all enjoy the video. If you like the video, please "Like" the video on our YouTube channel and leave a comment. The video can be viewed on our YouTube channel, in Our Nursery, or YouTube Videos page.

December 1, 2012 - One Month Old Photo Shoot of Primrose and Willie's Kittens
Courtesy of D. Russo Photography, Cary, North Carolina
Primrose and Willie's kittens turned one month old last week. We were blessed to have Dave Russo Photography come for a very exciting and fun photo shoot of our precious Himi kittens. You could tell Dave was having a great time photographing these babies. The photo shoot was actually not Dave's mission at the Cattery. Dave, and his sweet partner Lila, were here to pick out their special blessing. They just happened to bring along his camera. They had been waiting for their special little blessing since the beginning of July. You will have to wait a little bit longer to find out which of our precious kittens they picked to add to their very loving and pet friendly household. Dave's photography is so top notched that their gorgeous Black Extreme Faced Persian cat is featured on July 23, 2013 of the 365 Page A Day Cat Calendar, American's Favorite Cat Calendar. Thank you so much Dave and Lila for letting everyone have access to your wonderful photography. The Photo Shoot can be viewed in Our Nursery. Dave and Lila's favorites are of Solomon with his head hanging off the bed hamming it up for the camera. Think we may have a photogenic star on our hands with Solomon and a Fancy Feast star with Samson.

November 29, 2012 - Boys Will Be Boys Video and Update
We have just published our newest video of Primrose and Willie's kittens. Watch four very hyper kittens tearing through their Toddler Room having a blast playing with each other and their toys. You can view the video in Our Nursery, YouTube Video Page or on our YouTube Channel. You may also subscribe to our YouTube channel to be automatically notified when a new video is available for viewing. Feel free to "Like" the video and leave a comment.
These kittens are growing up so fast. This is the largest litter, weight wise, that we have had. The largest kitten is over 1200 grams with the smaller now over 1000 grams. They started on the Kitty Bloom vitamins this week. This week we opened a can of Natural Balance Venison and Green Pea to see how they would like it. This canned food has limited ingredients in it, which we liked. Basically the main ingredients are deer meat, deer broth, deer bone and deer liver. It also is grain free which we liked. Well, Solomon who has refused wet food altogether, went crazy over it. All the kittens loved the Venison and Pea. So if you are looking for a special treat for a picky eater, you may want to try the Natural Balance Venison and Green Pea wet food. Around our area, it can only be found at Petco. Solomon now has no problem liking wet food and now can get his Kitty Bloom VM 900-3 vitamins with it. This coming week on Wednesday they get their first set of shots. A week later, they will be moved down to the Main Cattery Room where the large cat furniture is. They will slowly be introduced to our two small dogs, Sweet Pea and Daisy as well as slowly being introduced to the rest of the gang. They are scheduled to go to their new homes the last week of January. We decided this week to make Samson available for adoption. It was a hard decision because he has so many great qualities going for him, especially his awesome rare deep blue eye color. He would have made a great addition to our breeding program. However, what we really needed was an extreme faced girl, not a boy. So this adorable large boy is available. He may end up being show quality if his nose pad will perfectly center between his eyes. This could happen as he matures. You can see all his pictures and videos by going to Our Nursery. You can read about Samson on our Available Kittens page.

November 27, 2012 - Great News!
We were tickled pink this afternoon when we went to check in on Primrose and her babies. They have their 4 week birthday tomorrow. As soon as they heard my voice, they came out of their beds and on to the floor. I spent time petting them and hand feeding them some kitten wet food, which they slowly are eating. There was a lot of meowing going on, so I kept putting them one by one in the litter box filled with Feline Pine. It was about 30 minutes in when the miracle happened. Our biggest boy, the extreme faced Flame Point got in the litter box all by himself. He was crying and scratching around and then he stopped still. I leaned over and there it was ... a big wet spot. Our big boy used the litter box on his own for the very first time. And then another little miracle happened ... I put our Sweet Annie in the litter box not even a minute later and then in one minute another spot appeared. I was absolutely tickled pink. That they even knew to go in there and what the box was for, just blows my mind. The power of instincts is so strong in little kittens, it really is amazing. Primrose took care of our second largest boy. But now that the smell of urine is in the litter box, it should be no time at all that the other two follow suit. As a breeder, I just love when these little miracles happen all on their own and in their own timing!
We were able to video tape the babies this morning playing with each other. They are also cleaning themselves. You can watch the newest video in Our Nursery or on our Youtube page or directly at our channel in YouTube.
Thank you Lila for coming up with the very important new names for our new precious babies. Here they are:
Kitten #1 - Smaller Doll Faced Flame Point Boy - Nathaniel (He is so sweet)
Kitten #2 - Large Doll Faced Flame Point Boy - Solomon (He is a smart boy)
Kitten #3 - Doll Faced Tortie Point Girl - Sweet Annie (Fits her so perfectly - It is the name of an herb/flower)
Kitten #4 - Very Large Extreme Faced Flame Point Boy - Samson (One look at him and there is no need to explain)
Hope you all enjoy the newest video. We may have one or two kittens available after our Wait List, so if you are interested in one of these precious babies, you may want to sent in your Kitten Application as soon as possible. Our Wait List is on a first come basis. We will start going through the Wait List next week for the families to be given an opportunity to pick a kitten from this litter or wait till the next litter. After the families on the Wait List have had their opportunity, we will list the remaining available kittens on the Available Kittens page.

November 23, 2012 - Update and Pictures of Dianthus and Delphinium
Jill recently sent two pictures of Dianthus, Black Persian, and Delphinium, Seal Point Himalayan, as they help her with quilting. Per Jill: " They are great "helpers" during quilting time, and are very sweet & loving cats. Maggie is still not happy. She growls and grumps at them, but that's it....she's all talk. Even the grumpiness is getting to be less and less." Maggie is Jill's elder cat. It will take time for Maggie to get use to having two playful kittens in her home and castle. Thank you Jill for the update.

November 17, 2012 - Day 20 of Primrose and Willie's Kittens
Well today is Day 20 of Primrose and Willie's Himalayan kittens lives. They sure have grown. They are still sleeping and nursing more than anything else at this time. But we do expect that to change in the next week as they get more sure footed with walking. They are already out of the birthing/nursing bed, preferring many times to be on the lambswool bed and their blankets which they love. We have taken a new video today of the babies. It is available for viewing in Our Nursery, or our YouTube Video page or directly at our YouTube Channel "weloveourkittens". Enjoy watching then as they grow up and start seeing the world.

November 16, 2012 - Day 16 Photo Shot of Primrose and Willie's Babies
This is the third time today that we have blogged, so make sure and catch all the entries today including precious new photos of The Perfect Calla Lily and The Perfect Dahlia below.
Today we had our Day 16 Photo Shot of Primrose and Willie's babies. The Photo Shot is available for viewing in Our Nursery. These babies are huge, cobby, fat and adorable. The ear set is looking very good. It appears that we now have confirmed three Flame Point boys. Now we have triple trouble as soon as they start their running around. These babies are about 3 days ahead of Pansy's babies weight wise. Our one extreme face boy we are watching carefully for CFA show potential. If he develops with great potential, he will either be staying at our Cattery as a future breeder and show cat or will go to a home that will show him at CFA shows. Hope you enjoy the photos.

November 16, 2012 - The Newest Photos of The Perfect Calla Lily
Thanks to Heather for tagging us on Facebook in the latest photos of The Perfect Calla Lily with her constant companion, the very handsome Alex. Boy, are they love birds trying to fit into a kitty bed for one. They are pictured in their lion cut haircut. Alex is actually related to Lily, as Alex has the same mother and father that Petunia has but from a different litter. Calla Lily was born in our first litter at our Cattery in August 2009. Her mother is Petunia and her father is Lord Chesterfield the First. She was the first Flame Point we have had till Primrose's litter this year. You can read more about Lily and see additional pictures of Lily in our Adopted Kittens page. Don't forget to see the newest photos of The Perfect Dahlia (Coco Puff) below.

November 10, 2012 - Update on Primrose and Willie's Babies
Primrose and Willie's babies are sooo big now. On Day 6 of their lives, two of them doubled their birth rate with the other two doubling theirs on Day 7. On Day 8, three of them were already weighting over 200 grams. We thought our last litter with Pansy and Willie was the largest we had ever had but we now have another record breaker for us in Primrose and Willie's babies. Just as an example, Pansy and Willie's babies did not reach over 200 grams till Day 10 and that included Dianthus, our big boned girl. All we can say is wow. This litter is as carefree as you can get. It is such a breeze since Primrose is totally taking care of them. We just weight them a few times a day to make sure everyone is gaining weight. Primrose is an excellent mother. She gets a full can of wet food four times a day. That's right, she goes through 4 cans of wet food a day. Three of the Himis have yet to give us a hint as to their colors. The last born with the larger head is now showing an extreme face. What a beauty he is. In fact, they all are beautiful. They are all starting the process of opening their eyes, with the second born actually having one eye completely open. It is so nice to see those pretty blue eyes. We will try to get a new video or photos on the website this weekend. This next week the babies should start to completely open their eyes and we hope they take their first steps on the floor. Several of them are already playing with themselves. It is adorable when they do that. We were finger playing with one today. Totally adorable they are.

November 5, 2012 - Update on Primrose and Willie's Newborns
This past week has flown by. The highlight of the week was the arrival of Primrose and Willie's four Himalayan babies. The babies are doing great. Not one worry with this litter so far. They are eating up a storm and growing so fast. They are large, chubby and cobby babies. Yesterday, one of our two girls, which we thought was a Seal Point, decided to show herself. In one day she turned from being a Seal Point to being a Tortie Point Himalayan. She is really pretty. The last born male will be a show stopper if the nose pad pulls up a little and becomes an extreme face. We will know when his eyes open up. The other three babies are going to keep us guessing for a while on the colors. We did expect two Chocolates so we probably will have a t least one or two Chocolate Point Himalayans in this litter. We have already spotted two potential lapkittens in this litter. These newborns definitely know how to squeal. They even wake me up at night from the next room over with their squealing. They will squeal if another newborn takes away their nipple or starts to or if the milk is not coming fast enough for them. Primrose has been an excellent mom to them and really does not like human interference. We have listed their first set of pictures in "Our Nursery" and are loading a YouTube video of the babies which will be able to be reviewed from "Our Nursery", our YouTube Video page or our YouTube channel. Feel free to subscribe to our YouTube Channel, "weloveourkittens" to be notified immediately when our videos are ready for viewing. Comments on YouTube are always appreciated. Enjoy our newest litter.

Feel free to subscribe to our YouTube Channel, "weloveourkittens" to be notified immediately when our videos are ready for viewing. Comments on YouTube are always appreciated. October 31, 2012 - Our New Arrivals From Heaven
We have been very extremely busy here at the Cattery. Primrose started into labor yesterday, October 30th. We tthought, from past experience, the whole birthing process for Primrose would be completed by evening, but we were very much wrong. All afternoon Primrose went in and out of labor. She really, really wanted to have the babies in the Pregnancy Room closet. Every time we said no, she would go out of labor. The first baby didn't arrive till 10:30 last night, October 30th. Primrose was very exhausted by this time and promptly went out of labor after the delivery. We could feel the other babies still in the womb, kicking up a storm. We had to give her a shot to get her labor contractions going. About 1:30 am and 1:45 a.m., she delivered two more kittens then promptly went out of labor. We gave her another shot at 3:17 a.m. to get her labor contractions going and at 4:05 a.m. this morning she delivered one more kitten. We thought there was another kitten in her but she is only allowed 3 shots so I gave her one more at 5:15 a.m. and no kitten was delivered. I went to bed at 7:00 a.m. this morning totally exhausted. One baby has already gained 10 grams in less than 12 hours. All four babies are nursing and doing great. Primrose is also doing very good and eating up a storm. She produced 4 Himis with Willie, all doll faced. These were good size babies with the exception of the first born. The first born was probably conceived near the end of the five days of mating with Willie. He is the same length, just needs to put on some weight. I was very much shocked at not having any Persians in this litter because I was preparing for at least 2 Persians. Statistically, she should have produced 50% Himis and 50% Persians. Right now, some of the Himis have different shades of white and different shades to their skin tone. Even their ears are different shades. Some of them already are showing color on their legs. We will have to wait and see how they develop. I can tell you that they are either Seal Points, Chocolate Points, Flame Points, Chocolate Tortie Points or Tortie Points. Don't know if she has two Chocolate Point Himis or not. Only time will tell. Now that the stress of delivery is over with, it will be fun watching them grow. This group is full of Jeds (Sweet Jedidiah). They are loud and boisterous. Primrose is producing a good amount of milk. Never had a baby cry at the nipple because the milk was not coming out fast enough for her. But this time, I have one. They fought for nipples right out of the gate. They were so squirmy that it was hard to even tie off the cord. Thankfully, we have an extra pair of hands to help us through this delivery. I credit Kitty Bloom Wate to their high energy level. Primrose and Willie had two girls and two boys so my first on my Wait List should be very pleased. Primrose is very protective of her babies. She growls a protective growl every time she hears a noise or when I come in the Nursery. Primrose was an excellent mother last year and this year is no exception. She is loving on them so much she will not even leave her bed to eat. So of course, I bring her wet food directly to her in bed. Tomorrow night I will try to get a video and some pictures but right now it is back to bed for a long deserved nap.

October 27, 2012 - Update from the Wattays and the Buckhalts
We recently received new pictures and updates from the Wattays and the Buckhalts regarding their new babies, either via email or Facebook. You can read more information and see the newest pictures from these families on our Adopted Kittens page.
From the Wattays - The Perfect Dahlia's New Parents
"... the girls at the vets office fell in love with our baby. Dr. Fuller just held her and petted her before giving her the examination. He did have to give her a rabies shot because it is required legally here. He gave it to her on her lower right leg. She handled it very well. They want me to send them pictures of her so they can put her on their Facebook page. No one can resist her adorable little face!
I wanted to let you know that Ross has renamed her Coco Puff. How cute is that? She looks just like a little chocolate furball! We will definitely keep The Perfect Dahlia as her show name but it is a formal name. She is becoming friends with Cleo slowly but surely. They will walk up and touch each others noses and she is starting to attack Cleo's wagging tail. Cleo just looks at her and lets her play. It is hysterical. Ross has video of it and we will send it to you. She is not afraid of Cleo at all- I am amazed! She will lay beside her (not to close) but i am hopeful one day we will see them curled up together. We are letting her roam the house under close supervision of course-she is lightening fast. She just takes off and acts like a wild kitty running around like crazy. She has brought life and so much laughter and love back into our home. We have you to thank for that."
From the Buckhalts - Daffodils new family via Facebook and email.
The pictures and description of the pictures come directly from the Buckhalt's Facebook page. Daffodil has been renamed Clio by their daughter.
" Daffodil is doing extremely well. The Vet said she looked great. ... She is adjusting well to her new home and has found a good friend with our dog Oscar."

October 26, 2012 - Update on Primrose's Pregnancy
Wow! Primrose's pregnancy time has just flown by. Well ... maybe not for her. We just wanted to give a quick update. Her time is fast approaching. She is starting to get restless, but who could really blame her. Her babies are kicking up a storm. She has been on the Kitty Bloom Wate since last Saturday night. The babies are awake and very active. During Primrose's pregnancy, she has gained a whopping 2.29 lbs, which is 32.2% of her body weight when she was first mated with Willie on August 26th. In just the last 7 days, she has gained over 1/2 lb. We are hoping for a delivery on Saturday night, which would be Day 63. It may also happen on Sunday night. We are planning on video taping the birthing, if all goes well. For those on our Wait List and for our Adoptive Parents, we will send out an email when she has delivered. Most all our Adoptive Parents keep up with our Cattery news and enjoy hearing about our babies either via email, Our Cattery Blog or on our Facebook page. Within the first few days of Primrose and Willie's babies birth, we will try to take some pictures and video to list on Our Nursery page. So please stay tuned and say a prayer for a safe entrance into the world for all the babies and an ease of delivery for Primrose as well as the babies.

One of Life's Journeys
A Story of Ting Tang, The Wattays, and The Perfect Dahlia
The Wattays with their new baby, The Perfect Dahlia, Black Persian.
"In 1996 in a small town outside of Knoxville Tennessee, a beautiful Himalayan cat named Tikki gave birth to three kittens, Moose, Sassy and the third, Ting Tang. Tikki belonged to a young woman named Heather. Jan was Heather's best friend and Heather gave Jan one of the kittens. She named him Ting Tang. With nothing more than a suitcase and her car, Jan moved to Charleston, SC for a job opportunity. She didn’t know anyone but she had her baby Ting Tang. She made the best of what she had for her and her little companion. Long days and nights she spent working. On her feet all day she would come home to the little rambunctious fellow, the one part of her life that was a constant in an uncertain future. The first two years they spent the holiday seasons together. Because of Jan’s job she could not go home for the holidays. They had each other and that is all they needed. I met Jan the spring of the next year. We would date and eventually get married. Of course Ting Tang became the center of our lives because we do not have children. Tikki had mated with a wild tomcat that lived in the woods behind Heathers house. As Jan and Heather like to say, Tikki went ‘slumming’ one night. Ting was the most beautiful cat I have ever seen. He was huge –weighing in at almost 18 pounds. He loved to sleep everywhere, on the bed, sofa, chairs, floors, sinks,….yes I said sinks! We would come home from work and the entire sink looked like a huge black ball of fur was stuck in it. Every night he would sleep with us, curled up to my wife’s shoulder as she would read. That was her favorite time with him. Mine was in the morning at 5 am when he was hungry. Even though he was very large, he was also very gentle. After eating, he would always come back to the kitchen and hang out with me while I prepared my breakfast. We enjoyed seventeen years of his presence in our lives. When I was recovering from my first heart attack, he would get in the bed and plant his body next to mine on my left side and commence to purring until I would fall asleep. He would repeat this after the second one. I would later read that heart attack patients benefit living with a cat because they reduce the stress of our lives. The little fellow knew what he was doing. Ting Tang became very ill and after trying desperately to save him, we had to make the difficult decision to put him to sleep. He will remain in our hearts forever. As we tried to move on we knew that there was a very large void in our lives. At first it was difficult to think of another kitten without breaking down. Everything reminded us of him. My wife would cry when we would go to bed and I would cry when I would wake up. We knew there was only one solution to the pain of losing him. We began looking on web sites, in newspapers and any other form of advertisement for kittens. Phone calls were made and e-mails were sent. Everyone we spoke to was very sympathetic to our loss. There was always one common theme to everyone we spoke to and that was kittens would not be available until the spring. We had come to accept this. We came to a website named Victorian Gardens and staring us in the eyes was the most beautiful chocolate Persian kitten. This website was beautiful and very well done. We called Susan Youngman, the owner of the cattery and told her our story. She was so kind and she knew we were in deep grief over the loss of our baby. We learned she was keeping Dahlia for her cattery. We filled out a kitten application and hoped for the best. We shared a few more phone calls with Susan, did a lot of talking and crying with a complete stranger over the phone. She called one day and told us she prayed and listened to her heart and she decided to let her baby Dahlia come home to us. She truly is a beautiful person and now has become a true friend to us. We know it was divine intervention that led Susan to us. We now have a beautiful new baby because of this wonderful woman who did a very kind act of love….GOD truly does work in mysterious ways."

October 16, 2012 - Quick Update on Primrose's Pregnancy, Dahlia, Delpinium and Dianthus
Things are certainly popping around our Cattery. Our gorgeous Dahlia is leaving us on Saturday morning to go to a wonderful couple in South Carolina. This family is in deep grief over the loss of their 17 year old Black Persian that they had from a baby. They and I have spent time crying together over their loss. They are on our Wait List, but I did not know when they would be able to get a kitten from us since our Wait List continues to grow. Their Vet's office said that having one sooner than later would be in the best interest for this couple. It will be definitely a bittersweet goodbye to our baby. We wanted to do the right and best thing for Dahlia and for this couple. Dahlia will help heal this couple of the loss of their baby and Dahlia will get more love and attention than I would ever have been able to give her at the Cattery. She will be absolutely spoiled rotten, not that she is not already spoiled. Dahlia will be shown in at least two CFA Cat Shows in the near future. We will give her time to develop to her full potential before being shown. She is really an absolutely gorgeous kitten with the most perfect face. So stay tuned for news and a heart warming story from this family.
Primrose has now gained 22% of her weight from when she was mated and she still has 1 1/2 weeks left in her pregnancy. From our calculations, we are now wondering if she will have 4 or more large kittens. She has been on Kitty Bloom vitamins for most of her pregnancy and her fur is just starting to pop all over and be very beautiful. She will start on her infertility treatment for one week starting on Sunday as well as starting on the Kitty Bloom Wate. The Kitty Bloom Wate will help give her and the babies energy that is needed to safely go through the birthing canal. It will also make her babies very active. I think we do have a Jed in the mix. One little one is already kicking up a storm. There is a lot of gentle movement right now but once Primrose is on the Wate, the movement will be much stronger. Stay tuned for news of our newborns.
Dianthus and Delpinium went with their new mother, Jill, to their new home in Virginia on Friday evening. We are definitely missing our sweet and beautiful girls. Dahlia is at a loss without them. Jill has reported to us that the girls are doing well. The first night they stayed at a hotel and it only took the girls 5 minutes to acclimate to the new space. Dianthus was having a ball playing and Delpinium was very content just to stay next to Jill and be petted. We can't wait for news and pictures of our beautiful babies in their new home. They will have a 12 1/2 year old big sister cat named Maggie to play with. When we get a change, we will be posting their pictures with Jill on the Adopted Kittens Page.

October 9, 2012 - One for Our Record Books - A Hilarious Story from the Jacobsons
" I've got to tell you Jed's latest before I get busy unpacking and washing clothes. Jake has a side table by his chair that has a door in the bottom and a drawer in the top. He keeps all the treats in that drawer. It's a heavy oak piece so the drawer doesn't slide easily. I had seen Jed trying to pull on the drawer if it was even open a tiny crack. I told Jake he needed to make sure and close the drawer. One morning recently we got up and Jed had opened the drawer - chewed open the cat treats and helped himself -- since he didn't want the dog treats he just turned them into toys. After that Jake made sure he shut the drawer. Last week I was working in the kitchen and noticed Jed sitting directly in front of that cabinet -- just looking at it. I didn't pay much attention and next thing I knew Jed had opened the door on the cabinet, crawled inside, turned over on his back and was trying to push the treat drawer open from the bottom. Is he smart or what?? Think of the level of reasoning it takes to go through all those steps. What a Jed!"
I wrote her back with the following: "You had me laughing about Jed before I even finished reading the first sentence. I knew before I even finished the first sentence what you were going to tell me. I can just picture it. If someone ever comes along like a Trainer, please let them see Jed and see what he can do. He should be in some kind of amazing cat show. What a story! Someday, I hope you catch it all on video. ... It would be hysterical to watch."

October 8, 2012 - Emotions and Bittersweet Goodbyes
Daffodil and The Buckhalts
Today I am need to blog just to release the emotions of having to say once again a bittersweet goodbye. Today, our beautiful Daffodil went in to the arms of her new family. It is bittersweet because she had to say goodbye to her mommy, her sisters, and her second mom. Sweet because she went in to the arms of a very loving family. I feel so blessed that she has a wonderful family who will do only the best for her. Her parents are gentle and loving with great empathy. They had waiting since May 16th for their precious baby. Their father was an American hero deployed in a war zone at the time they put down their kitten deposit. Right before he was deployed to a war zone, their six year Cream Persian died of HCM. It was a horrible time for the family with this loss as well as the loss of their father to war. Even in the midst of the harsh setting of war, he found time to watch Daffodil grow up through our YouTube videos and keeping up on the news on our website. He would write me and say it gave him a connection to back home. Sometimes the internet connection was not good where he was stationed.. At one point, I was so worried for his safety, that I emailed all my Bible Study group to enlist their prayer support to get him safely back home to his family. He arrived back in the states a few weeks ago. Today I meet this hero in person and his beautiful and sweet wife. This couple gave me such a peace in my heart that I would never have to worry about Daffodil. Her new mommy, with Daffodil in her arms, teared up when they were leaving. She was sad because she knew and cared enough about Daffodil, Pansy and her sisters. She knew that Daffodil would be leaving the only thing that she had known all her life. This goodbye was easier for me because I knew they would keep in touch with news of Daffodil and their family. See, when you get a kitten from Victorian Gardens Cattery, you are getting an extended family. Our extended family includes all the other adoptive families that stay in touch on a regular basis either through Facebook or through emails posted on our Blog and Adopted Kittens page. These parents give such support and encouragement to me. Right after posting our Goodbye video this morning, one adoptive family wrote and told me they understood it was hard giving up my furbabies this week. I could not do it unless I knew that families would keep in touch and bless me with news, photos and videos. It makes it so much easier to say goodbye because it really is not goodbye. I know that I will be a part of that babies life by their new parents allowing me glimpses into their babies life as she or he grows up. For that I am deeply honored to have such wonderful parents for my babies. Now that I have a lump in my throat, I will conclude. Daffodil's new family includes a 4 year old little sister, a 17 year big brother and a 5 year Dachshund (just like our Daisy). We wish and pray for the very best for our new family. Welcome the Buckhalts to our Victorian Gardens Cattery extended family.

September 27, 2012 - Update on Primrose and Pansy's babies
Primrose went on Monday, September 24, for a recheck at the Vet to ensure her pregnancy was going good. The Vet said the babies were developing nicely and had already doubled in size from the last Vet check on September 13th. We weighted Primrose last night and she was already gaining weight. Since yesterday, she is visually looking and feeling more rounded. The Vet would not give us a count of kittens she is carrying, so it will be a surprise for us. Primrose is now comfortably making her home in our Pregnancy Room. She seems very content to stay in there all the time. At the current time, we allow some of the other cats to come in and visit her when they want to. We are still awaiting Peony (Tortie Point Himi) to go into heat so she can be breed after undergoing the same infertility treatment that Primrose had.
Pansy and Willies babies are doing good. They have taken over the house. You can hearing them running up and down the stairs and through the rooms. At night when it is time to go to bed, we usually find them gathered in the Toddler Room waiting to sleep or already asleep after a long day of play in the house. Even the older cats are tired from all the time with the babies. It is none stop action till late at night. We are really going to miss these bundles of joy as they leave for their new homes on October 6th.

September 23, 2012 - Victorian Carriage 12 Week Photo Shoot of Pansy and Willie's Kittens
We just uploaded our Victorian Carriage 12 Week Photo Shoot of Pansy and Willie's Kittens, born June 29, 2012. Don't miss this Slide Show now showing in "Our Nursery". This will be the last photo shoot of these kittens together as three of them leave for their new forever homes on October 6, 2012. We will miss these very beautiful, large, gorgeous furbabies. Dahlia, the Black CPC Persian, will be staying with us as a future breeder in mid summer of 2013. We are sure she will make beautiful and "very smart" babies. These four girls have been a delight to raise. They are extremely bright. They have already figured out how to open the screen door to the Toddler Room. Believe it or not, they already know how to unlatch the hook to the screen door. They even know how to open it when you have put weights on the other side of the door to keep them in. They are a very active, happy bunch of precious fur. Enjoy the Slide Show.

Well, we finally did it ... we published another video today. It was bath time at Victorian Gardens Cattery and to celebrate, LOL, we produced a "How To" video for our parents. It lets you know how we bath our kittens and the products and processes we use.
Hope you enjoy it. You can watch it directly on our YouTube channel or in "The Nursery" page or the "YouTube Video" page.
Darling and adorable Delphinium, Seal Point Himalayan, is the star of the show. She is so adorable, you just want to hug her. I honestly can't get enough of her. Feel free to "like" the video and leave a comment on YouTube. Comments are always appreciated. You can also subscribe to our channel on YouTube to be immediately notified when we publish a video.
Stay tuned for our 12 Week Photo Shot of Pansy and Willie's kittens in the baby carriage and a new video of them in action in our new "Toddler Room". Will not tell you when ... let it be a surprise.
September 13, 2012 - Great News!
Well, today we took Pansy's kittens in for a Vet check with Primrose and Peony. The Receptionist could not believe how big the kittens were for being just 10 1/2 weeks old.
Can't believe it, but the infertility treatments on Primrose, Cream Persian, worked and the Vet confirmed Primrose is pregnant. He felt one lump but did not go any further because he didn't want to harm them. I jumped up and down for joy. I was so excited. I will bring Primrose back to the Vet when I bring the kittens in for their last wellness check in two weeks. At that time, the Vet will check how her pregnancy is going. She was breed to Ch Willie Wonka, Chocolate Point Himalayan from 8/26 to 8/30/12. It is hard to know which one of the mating day(s) took, so we are going with the first one to be on the safe side. She should deliver anywhere on or after October 28th. The kittens would be available to bring to their new home around January 27th or thereafter. Primrose will continue on the infertility protocol to ensure that she does not lose any of the babies in the womb or afterwards. We will update our blog as Primrose's pregnancy progresses.
Pansy and Willie's kittens will soon be moving out of the Pregnancy Room and Nursery to the Toddler Room and then down to the Main Cattery Room. Primrose and Peony will then go in to the Pregnancy Room where they can be fed a specialized diet just for Queens.
With Primrose and CH Willie Wonka's litter, we expect half the litter to be Persians and the other half to be Himalayans. We expect half the litter to be chocolate in color with the other half in the red and black family. We expect 100% carriers for dilute and chocolate in this litter. We do expect some doll faced kittens, as well as extreme faced kittens from this litter. We already have a Wait List on Primrose's litter, so if you are interested in a kitten from this litter, please fill out the Kitten Application and mail or email it back to us. The Wait List is on a first come basis.

September 6, 2012 - Updates
Well .... this week just got away from us. We have been knee deep in the remodeling of our main Cattery room. We are working like crazy to have it completed for our new parents visit to see their kitten(s). Pansy and Willie's kittens are doing great and growing up so fast. They now are jumping on chairs and on the bed. There are several climbers in the bunch also. It is not unusual to see one of them scamper up the 3 foot scratching post to the top. Then they sit there on the small space of 4"x4" with their four paws. They are sweet kittens that coming running when ever they see you. Since we have focused this week on our remodel, we were not able to get any pictures or videos loaded as promised. Sorry. We did get one video of the kittens playing with "The Bug". However, time restrains are not allowing us to get it uploaded on to YouTube till next week. So please be patient. We are working as fast as possible.

September 1, 2012 - Updates on Pansy's Kittens, Primrose and our Remodeling Project
We have had a busy 9 days since we last blogged. We wanted to give a quick update on Pansy and Willie's Kittens, Primrose and our Cattery remodeling.
First off, Pansy's kittens had their 9 week birthday yesterday. They are doing great. In celebration of their birthday, they had their 4 in 1 with Leukemia shot yesterday. Not a very good birthday present but in some ways, the best one they could ever get. It takes about one week for vaccines to be activated. So by next Friday, the babies are going to be moved down to our remodeled main Cattery Room. They will be slowly introduced to our gang of cats and dogs. They already know some of the gang from the screen door in the Pregnancy Room. In fact, Joseph loves matching them play from the screen door. Last night, two of the kittens were playing paws with Joseph underneath the screen door. I am sure he can't wait to play with them.
The kittens are nice and fat. They usually put on 30 to 45 grams a day. The average for a kitten is 10 to 20 grams a day. Pansy's kittens will be of a nice size when fully grown. We figure they will end up in the 10 to 13 pound range as adults, with the exception of Delphinium, who will probably be about the same size as her mom. Pansy is about 8 pounds. We have slowly weaned them off of wet kitten food this week. They have three choices of dry kitten food and are enjoying the food thoroughly. They don't even seem to miss not having the wet food anymore. We hope to get some new pictures of the kittens and a new video sometime in the next week. We are currently focusing on getting our main Cattery Room ready for the kittens arrival by the end of the week.
Mentioning our main downstairs's Cattery Room ... it has a new coat of paint on the walls in pink and green. We are having a custom made logo rug made for the large room that will coordinate with the walls. It will be a canvas rug coated in numerous coats of poly to protect it from hairballs etc. The main Cattery room is large with huge windows. It is a bright and happy room. The kittens should have a blast running around in it. Hopefully we will be finishing up on the room just in time for the kitten's move. As of Thursday, September 6th, our new parents are welcomed to come visit and play with their kitten or kittens. It will allow the new parents to meet the kittens and have special time with their kittens. We thoroughly encourage this since it will help the kittens in the transition to their new homes at the end of September. Please call in advance to make arrangements for a visit.
Our last piece of news is on Primrose, Cream Persian. Primrose finally came back in to heat last weekend. We bred her to Willie Wonka this last week for five days straight. She mated with Willie a good 2 to 3 times each day. We are very hopefully this time a round that she will be pregnant. She promptly went out of heat yesterday so that is a good sign. We normally only bred them in a two to three day window but due to infertility issues this year, we decided to give her the best shot at pregnancy by breeding her for a full five days. She was first bred on Sunday, August 26. We will use this date to calculate three weeks out to check her for confirmation of pregnancy. Three weeks out will be September 16. Since she was bred for five straight days, we will give her a week beyond September 16 for pregnancy confirmation. We were with Primrose and Willie during each mating and Willie's technique improved with each mating. So please stay tuned for the news and please keep your fingers crossed for us.

August 22, 2012 - Three New Videos and Slide Show
We have just completed the publishing of three new videos of Pansy and Willie's Kittens entitled:
Mommy and Me - Daffodil and Pansy Playing
Can You Find My Hiding Place - The kittens new hiding place
Kitties Gone Wild - Yes wild is the correct word.
You can view these videos by going to our YouTube channel entitled "weloveourkittens", or on Our Nursery page, or on our YouTube Videos page. While you are viewing the videos, if you like what you see, please "like" are video and leave a comment on our YouTube page.
We have also had another photo shot with the kittens. It is very hard and we say "very" hard to get good photos of lively kittens, but we did give it a shot. You can view our flowers in their flower container on Our Nursery page.
We are going to take a week break from publishing any videos or photos of the kittens/cats or any pictures so that we can devote time to remodeling our main Cattery Room for our new kittens arrival to it when they turn 10 weeks old. We should be able to get a new video when they turn 9 weeks old. Enjoy the pictures and video.

August 18, 2012 -Pansy and Willie's 7 Week Old Kittens Eating Raw Chicken Video
Maybe it should be called "7 Week Old Kittens Trying To Steal Food"
We have just published a new video of Pansy and Willies four Persian and Himalayan Kittens at 7 weeks old eating a snack of raw chopped chicken breast. To see the video, you can either go to "Our Nursery", "Our YouTube Channel, "weloveourkittens". The kittens are limited in how much of the raw chicken they can have due to the tendancy of these very healthy kittens to over indulge. The female Black Persian on the right and female Seal Point Himalayan shown at the top of the video are the largest of the litter and are trying to steal the chicken away from their litter mate Dahlia, female Black Persian. The larger kittens were given more of the chicken to eat. They absolutely love raw cut up chicken breast. This is one of their three wet kitten food feedings per day. Two of the feedings have supplements mixed in (Vitamins and Probiotics). This feeding does not have the supplements. The kittens always have access to premium dry kitten food. Pansy and Willie's litter was born June 29, 2012 and include two female Black CPC Persians and two female Seal Point Himalayans. This video does not have music to it so you will have to put up with my voice.
We hope to do a video sometime early next week with Pansy playing with her babies. It is quite enjoyable to watch how she interacts and plays with her kittens. Stay tuned for that video.
Enjoy our new video of the kittens eating raw chicken.

August 18, 2012 - Update on the Kittens
Pansy and Willie's kittens turned 7 weeks old yesterday. The kittens are now all spoken for and will be ready to leave for their new homes on or after September 28th. In celebrate of their birthday yesterday, we gave them a pouch of tuna. That was gone lickety split. This week has brought them their first taste of raw chicken. They promptly devoured the chicken and we gave them more. It was gone in a manner of two minutes. Some of them gorged on it a little too much. Next time they will have a limited amount per kitten. It was cute watching them chew on the raw meat. Several of them experienced their first partial bath this week. We have not used the blow dryer on them yet, but plan on doing so shortly so they are use to the sound and the wind. They love, love, love playing and sleeping on their playstation. They are still nursing on Pansy but the amount of time has been cut back as Pansy is trying to wean them. Pansy is such a good mom and is so enjoying playing with them and watching them play. The kittens are eating the premium dry food as well as their three feedings a day of wet kitten food. This week we also took them up on the bed, one by one, and started playing with them with our hands under the covers. They love it. They jump all over the bed trying to catch the moving item under the covers. At this point, we think they are all completely potty trained. We are going to give it a few more days and then take down the fence and let them have full access to the Pregnancy Room. Since they are running fast and furiously, this will allow them more room to run and play. This coming week, we will also introduce them to a full bath and a blow dry.
We hope to have a new video of the kittens loaded up tonight on YouTube. You can subscribe to our YouTube Channel called "weloveourkittens" in order to be notified immediately when we publish a new video. Enjoy these fast growing, funny and playful kittens.

August 12, 2012 - New Videos and Updates
Today Pansy's babies got their first taste of real tuna fish. We gave them a package of Starkist Tuna which was devoured almost as fast as we put it down. Currently, they get kitten wet food 3 times a day and have access to Royal Canin Dry Babycat all the time. During two of the wet feedings, we give them Kitty Bloom vitamins and probiotics. We are going to start trying to see how they do on raw meat in the next few days. We plan on giving them raw meat or cooked meat on the one feeding where they are not getting their supplements. If today is any indication, they will go crazy for the raw chicken and meat.
We have posted two new videos of the babies today at 6 weeks old. They can be reviewed either on our YouTube channel, Our Nursery, or our YouTube Videos page. They are now at the very active kitten stage, playing and running around like crazy. They are a blast to watch.
We have now listed our available kittens on the Available Kitten page with a write up about each one and their personality type. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Yesterday, Primrose started into the affection phase of heat. Today we put her in with Willie. It is too soon for their mating since she just started heat, but it allowed them to get adjusted to being with each other. We should see a mating by Tuesday or Wednesday. We will keep our fingers crossed that this mating takes.

August 7, 2012 - Update on Pansy and Willie's Babies
The babies are growing up so fast. On Saturday, August 4th, Pansy's kittens got their first dewormer treatment. If you could have seen their astonished faces when they first got a taste of the medicine. It was priceless. Hopefully with the next litter, we can plan ahead and video tape it. They also had their nails trimmed on Saturday. It was a much needed trim. The kittens were born with long nails. You can see this in the videos from when they were first born. I think that Pansy is glad they are now trimmed down. Everytime I would walk in to the Nursery, one of the Persians would be attacking my feet. So I too am glad they are now trimmed. I was not able to trim their nails while they were sleeping which is the easiest approach. They were wide awake and active when their nails got trimmed. I am sure you can just imagine. Their little nails are so tiny at this point in time.
Our Daffodil has now been eating the wet kitten food for the last few days. YEAH! We are happy about this because we put vitamins and supplements in the wet food and she had been missing those by eating the dry food only. The others had been eating the wet food for at least a week or two. The kittens are potty trained, though we are watchful to make sure that they are completely potty trained with no accidents. We still put them in the litter box after their naps and after meals and play time.
The kittens are loving the new playstation that we have in the Pregnancy Room. It is a three story affair with a hammock and a jburlap walk up ramp. They have made their way already up to the second story and actually take naps together in the the second story cube. On the second story, besides the cube, there is also a hammock and a flat mesh area for them to take naps on. This playstation can be seen in one of our more recent videos. This is one of their favorite play toys as well as the round tunnel that is covered with burlap for scratching.
Dianthus, the larger Black Persian is now weighting in at 700 grams. She loves to eat and that translates in to a lot of energy. They are all so cute as they are running around making cute little kitten noises. Dianthus and Dahlia both come running when they see me. They both know it is time to eat and they are ready. Pansy is slowly starting to wean the kittens on her own in a very gentle and loving way. She is such a good mother to them. She has been a real trooper for being such a young mother. She is very protective and loving to her babies. We are so proud of her. She really acts like she loves being a mom. It is always stressful for me not knowing how a new mother is going to be. With Pansy, she was great and I don't have to worry about her and how she will take care of her babies.
We are scheduling to do the kitten's portraits this week. We hope to have them up in "Our Nursery" by the end of the week. We are also going to be listing our available kittens up on the Available Kittens page by the end of the week also. If you have any questions about any of the kittens seen in the Nursery, please contact us.
We look forward to producing a new video of the babies this weekend after their 6 week Birthday on Friday. So please stay tuned.

August 4, 2012 - Comments from Andy (Zachariah) and Jed's (Jediadiah) Mother
"I loved watching your new video of the babies last night. They are adorable. I am so in hopes that they all 3 get wonderful homes. When Pansy was holding that kitten and grooming her I thought of Andy's latest thing. He has always wanted to be Tashi's buddy and finally Tashi is allowing contact most of the time -- even trying to figure out how in the heck you play with a cat. Andy will snuggle up to Tashi and put his arm around him (just like Pansy was doing with the kitten) and give him a good bath. Tashi just lays there and enjoys. Did you ever have those two pegged exactly right as to personality. Jake keeps saying he things Andy is the sweetest, most loving cat he has ever been around and I think he is right. But when Andy does get wound up it is fun to watch. He and Jed have a time."
August 4, 2012 - Video - Daffodil and The Crazy Hyperactive Kitty Dance
We have just published our newest video entitled "Daffodil and The Crazy Hyperactive Kitty Dance". This is a most watch if you are in need of a pick me up or laugh. This is just too funny. If you see the camera shake, it is just me laughing in true amazement. The best is near the end. It features our 5 week old female Seal Point Himalayan doing "The Crazy Hyperactive Kitty Dance". Of course she gets interrupted by Dianthus, our female Black CPC Persian. In her attempts to get away from Dianthus, she finds herself stuck in a hole, so to speak. Hope you enjoy this as much as we had fun actually seeing it first hand. You can view the video either on our YouTube Channel, Our Nursery or our YouTube Video page. Feel free to "Like" our video and/or leave a comment. Enjoy.

August 3, 2012 - 5 Week Birthday - Pansy and Willie's Kittens
Today, Pansy and Willie's kittens reached a milestone, they turned 5 weeks old. Time has just flown by. They are very happy kittens, playing with each other and their mom. It appears at this moment, they are potty trained. We say that with our fingers crossed. They have two litter boxes, one in the Nursery and one in the Pregnancy Room. They are special litter boxes where Pansy, their mother, can not get in. Her new litter box is one where her kittens can not get in. The litter we are using in the kitten's litter box is Feline Pine. If anyone has used this litter before, it is like sawdust and gets all over everything. The kittens usually come out of the litter box with saw dust particles all over them. You can probably see some of it on the videos. We use this litter because it is safe in case those little babies decide to put it in their mouths. On their 9 week birthday, we will change over to a regular clumping litter and breathe a sign of relief.
The kittens are well on their way to being weaned. They still nurse from their mother.as well as eat wet and dry kitten food. We add extra supplements to their wet food twice a day. Pansy always cleans up was it left over. They are also in the teething and climbing stage. Some of this appears in the videos.
It is time for their first worming and nail trims. This usually does not go over to well with kittens, but if we sneek the nail trimming in while they are sleeping, it has less negative impact. Of course, there is no way to avoid their first taste of the worming medicine. We may take a video of that, because the look on their faces is usually priceless.
We are now going to be referring to the kittens to their given names which are all names of flowers that start with the letter "D":
Kitten #1 - Black Female CPC Persian - Dahlia
Kitten #2 - Seal Point Female Himalayan - Delphinium
Kitten #3 - Black Female CPC Persian - Dianthus
Kitten #4 - Seal Point Female Himalayan - Daffodil
In celebration of their kitten's birthday, we took 15 videos this morning of the kittens playing. We have weeded the 15 videos down to one or two which we will be loading up on YouTube by the end of the night, hopefully. If we have any spare time, we may take a few more videos if we can find them all the kittens awake at the same time. You can subscribe to our YouTube channel in order to be notified immediately when we publish a new video.O ur videos can now be watched in HD format.
We are currently making our final picks of kittens and will hopefully list available kittens within the next few weeks up on our Available Kitten page. There is still time to get in your application to be on our wait list for this litter before the kittens are made available on the kitten page.
We have an update of Peony and Primrose. We are awaiting Primrose to go in to heat after her last mating failed. Both girls and our sire, Willie, are on a special antibiotic treatment for infertility issues (bacteria infection) that we are pretty certain came to us via our new sire, Willie, and the Cattery in California where he came from. We were strickly a closed Cattery prior to receiving Willie and never had any mating issues or infertility issues. Since Willie's arrival, we are having infertility issues in our female breeders. We know Willie can sire kittens because he was able to easily get Pansy, our kitten, pregnant. Hopefully both girls can become fertile and conceive after they have finished their antibiotic treatment.

July 26, 2012 - New Videos and Update on Pansy's Babies
We just released two new videos of Pansy's babies taken on Day 26 of their little lives, which was yesterday morning. One video is of the Himis playing together. The other video is other the Persians playing together. These videos are available for viewing in "Our Nursery" or "YouTube Videos" pages or directly on our channel at YouTube.com. If you enjoy the videos, please "like" our videos. We always appreciate comments.
The babies have suddenly come into their own and are all over the place playing. They are at that very cute stage. What is especially enduring ... the little ones playing with their mother Pansy. She started playing in earnest with them last night. Even though she is exhausted ... I am sure you can understand with four little ones underfoot constantly ... you can tell she is ready for them to play with her. She is really just a kitten herself. She is an excellent mother. We have not seen any potty, but on time, because she grooms this so well. At any cry ... she is right at their side. The smaller Himi stays up while the others are sleeping so she gets dedicated mommy play time. The larger Himi did not like the wet kitten food, but this morning we saw her eating the Royal Canin Baby Cat Dry Food all on her own. So they are all on their way to being slowly weaned, which will give Pansy a much needed break.
Tomorrow, we will make our Pregnancy Room ready for the babies to come in to at their leisure. We will be disinfecting the floors and putting out litter boxes and unwrapping their brand new toys and playstation. And boy do they have a lot of new toys, even large toys. We bought them all kinds of different sensing toys.
Sometime next week, we hope to put the available kittens from Pansy's litter on the Available Kitten page. We are awaiting the decision from a family on the Waiting List first. If you are interested in any kitten from this litter, we encourage you to turn in your Kitten Application. If you have any questions, please let us know.

July 23, 2012 - Kitty Gruel and Slip and Slide
Today we were able to grab a few pictures of some of Pansy and Willie's babies. The babies are now slowly starting to eat Kitty Gruel. Three of the kittens are now eating off the plate or our finger. The next transition will be to wet kitten food which should happen later in the week. The Kitty Gruel gets all over their faces, legs, arms and body. Thankfully, Pansy loves the Kitty Gruel and cleans them up afterwards. She also eats the remaining gruel that the kittens did not eat. We were not able to get a picture of Kitten #3. She is walking a lot and it is hard to catch her in a position to take a picture. You can see these pictures in "Our Nursery".
We produced a short video today called "Slip and Slide". Once you watch the video, you will see why it was called that. If we had carpet, they would be going really fast but with shiny wood floors and vinyl, they get a workout in their walking. This video is being loaded tonight and will be available to watch at our YouTube Channel, Our Nursery or YouTube Videos page.
We may try to get a longer video on Tuesday or Wednesday if time permits.

July 22, 2012 - Update on Pansy's Babies
The babies went to our Vet on Thursday for their first Wellness Check. It was a long drive and a long day, but it did not faze the babies at all. We specifically wanted verification of their sex and to have their heart and lungs checked. The babies checked out fine. The Vet said that they were all girls. He must have thought we were crazy, because we kept asking him if he was sure. The night the babies were born, we had identified them as all girls. But as time went by and they matured, it was harder and harder to be sure. It is a relief that we now have verification. The Vet did check each one a couple of times just to be sure.
Each baby girl in Pansy's litter is going to have one of the following flower names: Dahlia (Extreme Faced Persian and future breeder for the Cattery), Delphinium, Dianthus, and Daffodil. We have not assigned all their specific names yet so we are willing to take suggestions as to what flower goes with a particular baby girl.
We are in the process of remodeling our main Cattery room downstairs in order to get ready for the babies coming downstairs after their first set of shots (after 9 weeks old). Yesterday we found some wonderful fabric that had names of flowers written in hand script all over it. The fabric was in our Cattery colors of pink and green. We could not resist getting some for our remodel project.
The babies are now out and about. They are not running yet, but some have picked up on their speed. Some, if not all, are either sliding out or climbing out of their bed. Once they are more steady on their feet, we will start litter box training.
The larger Persian and the smaller Himi were both licking kitten gruel off my fingers this evening. Their baby teeth are now starting to come in. It surprised me when I felt the smaller Himi's sharp teeth. Yes, they have just started in on the nippling phase. We may try some tiny cut up chicken breast tonight to see what happens. The Himi's eyes are a very beautiful and stunning deep blue . You can already see the copper eye color developing on the Persians. This group should all have very strong eye color.
We have been delayed in producing a video this weekend since we were out of town all day yesterday and running out of time today. We should have one in a day or two so please stay tuned.

July 14, 2012 - The Babies Have Hit the Ground
The day for Pansy and Willie's babies to hit the ground, came this morning when the two Himalayans tried to escape out of their bed. We removed Pansy's litter box from the Nursery and gave the floors one more scrub down. We layed down baby towels and receiving blankets on the floor. Our babies even have a cuddle blanket that we keep in the bed, just like human babies have. They love cuddling in, on and under it. So we brought two of the cuddle blankets out to the floor to lay by the beds so that they could cuddle there. They have had a full day on the floor as they try to steady their wobbly legs. In a few days time, they will be scampering about. Their eyes are full open and they can see blobs of color. They look around and usually head for the dark object, which is more than likely their mother. Pansy was ready to have them come out of their bed since it was getting kind of cramped in the bed nursing them. She layed right out on the floor and started nursing them. We have included a few pics of this in a slide show in Our Nursery. We also got our best pictures yet of Pansy yesterday as she was taking a break from the babies in the Pregnancy Room. These pictures are the first to really show her true beauty.
We have a short, short video of the two black Persians sleeping that was taken yesterday on their 2 week birthday. We are also going to try to produce a longer video of the babies on a larger blanket on the Pregnancy floor tonight.
The babies are getting to that very cute stage now. They have grown quite a bit and are still nice and chubby. Their personalities are starting to show. Here is our breakdown of their personalitys so far from our vantage point.
Kitten #1 - Extreme Faced CPC Black Persian: This is the sweetest most gentle baby. He/she absolutely loves to have his back and tummy rubbed. He will come to you. We truly think he is a genuine lapcat. He rarely cries unless someone is trying to take his nipple. You can hold him in the palm of your hand and he will look at your face and just be content to stay there. He has won our heart over for sure.
Kitten #2 - Doll Faced Seal Point Himalayan: We are going to call her a she because we believe it is a girl. As you can tell from the previous slide shows, she is very curious and likes to look around. She is my get up and go girl. She reminds me a lot of Sweet Viola last year. She is the smallest of the litter, but makes up for it in personality. She loves to have her tummy rubbed and to play with your hand. She is a sweety. She will cry when someone tries to take her nipple away from her, which is quite often. She is always having to fight for her right to a nipple. Don't worry. She has held her own on the weight gain by gaining almost as much as everyone else each day.
Kitten #3 - CPC Black Persian: Maybe an extreme faced but looks right now as a doll faced. Vet will decide if he is a he or she. He/she has been and still remains the largest of the litter. He will cry if he does not get on a nipple. Maybe scream is the right word. There have been screams in the middle of the night and I have come a running only to find them fighting over a nipple. Even when he has finished his nipple, he is looking for another one because he is a big boy and needs lots of milk. And he thinks nothing of taking someone elses. As you can tell from his picture, he has a large head and a body to go with it. He also loves to be rubbed on his tummy. He is the go getter and probably will be the leader of the pack. He was the first at everything. The first at playing, opening his eyes, walking etc, etc. A whole lot of personality in a large body.
Kitten #4 - Doll Face Seal Point Himalayan: We are going to call her a she though it may be a he. She is now the second in line for weight. Meaning she weights the second most. She is very consistent in everything. Right out of the womb, she did not even go to the incubator but directly to her mom's nipple and sucked like there was no tomorrow. She also stayed on that nipple for a very long time. She reminds me of the one who does everything right and no one sees her because she is content. She only fusses when she is looking for her mom or someone is trying to take her nipple away from her. She has a great weight on her and will be an average to large kitten. She has large round eyes and is evenly rounded all over. I call her my wallflower because she is so easy to take care of you might not pay her as much attention.
So hope this helps with what we have seen in their personalities. We usually can call a personality pretty good within the first few days of life. We watch them so much and how they interact with one another and their mother. This also will allow you to better enjoy their personalities as you watch them in the videos relating to their mother and siblings.
Hope you can stop by Our Nursery and look at the most recent pics and videos.

July 11, 2012 - New Slide Show Available
We just published our newest slide show of Pansy and Willie's babies on Day 11 with their eyes open or partially open. The Himis each have one eye open with the other one partially open. This photos were taken yesterday. Today, we see beautiful blue eyes in the Himis. We will wait till both Himis have their eyes completely open before taking more pictures. Forgive the blurry photos. If anyone has ever tried to take pictures of moving pets or animals, they would understand. These little ones move their head around alot looking and smelling for their mother and litter mates. Our camera was just not able to focus fast enough. One additional item ... we tried to correctly label all the photos but may have gotten some wrong due to the amount of photos we took. The slide show is available on "Our Nursery" page. One last thing, vote for your favorite picture in the slide show and let us know which won you picked by copying the picture and sending it to us at [email protected]. We will publish the top vote getter on our Facebook page. Enjoy.

July 10, 2012 - Royal Canin Kitten Care Kit
As part the Victorian Gardens Cattery Kitten Care Kit, each kit comes with a Royal Canin Kitten Care Kit. Well ... our Royal Canin Kitten Care Kits for this litter arrived in the mail today. And to our surprise, Royal Canin offered to our new adoptive parents of this litter an added item. In these economic times, it was very generous of Royal Canin to add to the Kit instead of take away from the Kit. Each Royal Canin Kitten Care Kit now comes with the following: 10 ounce bag of Royal Canin Dry Kitten Food, a 3 ounce can of Royal Canin Instinctive Kitten Wet Food, a Royal Canin Kitten Care Guide and a Royal Canin Plastic Carrying Bag. Royal Canin we thank you for generously providing these Royal Canin Kitten Care Kits to our new adoptive parents.

July 9, 2012 - Day 11 of Pansy's Babies
Pansy's babies hit the 11 day mark today. Their growth has been amazing to us at the Cattery. On Day 10, Sunday, the largest black Persian eyes both opened and the others had their eyes partially open. Today, the other black Persian had both of his eyes open. On Day 10, three kittens hit the over 200 gram mark. For comparison, Petunia's litter from last year did not reach the 200 gram mark till Day 15. Petunia had a great and healthy litter last year with no problems. In addition, Pansy's large black Persian started to walk on Day 10. Their bodies are growing so fast. We are anticipating that this litter will beat all our previous litters and mature early in most areas like eyes opening, walking, weaning and potty training. These kittens love being stroked and having their tummy rubbed after they are fed. Pansy is doing a great job at nursing these big babies.
We are loading a Day 11 video up onto YouTube. It should be ready for viewing this evening. In just a few days , the Himis should be up on their feet walking also and their eyes completely opened.
If you are interested in kitten from this litter, you will need to send in our Kitten Application. We currently do have a wait list of approved applicants with deposits, so if you are interested in being on the wait list for a kitten from this litter or for a future litter, we encourage you to turn in your Kitten Application soon. The wait list is on a first come, first serve basis. If you have any questions, please let us know.

July 6, 2012 - Day 7- Update on Pansy's Newborns
Photo Entitled "The Life of Riley"
Boy this week has gone so fast and these babies have grown even faster. Right now, the black Persians are already starting to open their eyes. They are maturing very fast. The average for our Cattery with opening the eyes is around 10 to 13 days old. In the last 24 hours, all the babies are starting to clean themselves, roll over, suck their thumbs, general play on their backs and sleep on their backs. Several of them, love to have their bellies rubbed and to be lightly petted. We may have the start of some lapcats here. It is too soon to tell. They have grown very big with all of them doubling their birth rate by yesterday, Day 6. We have posted two new pictures in "Our Nursery", one of which is shown above. As you will be able to see from the pictures, these are fat, cubby babies. Pansy is bonding to them and loving on them. She is also very protective of them. By this time next week, they will probably be walking and their eyes fully opened. Make sure to stop by the Blog each day to see if more information has been posted about their development. You can check their development from last years litters by scrolling down to May 2011 and reading forward. Enjoy.

July 6, 2012 - Pansy's DNA Test Results
Pansy's DNA test results came in this morning by email. She is negative for all tested diseases. It was confirmed that she is a dilute carrier and color point carrier. She is not a chocolate carrier. We had hoped she was a chocolate carrier. This means that her current litter is two Black Persians and two Himis that are either Seal Points or Tortie Points. We will have her official DNA results posted this afternoon under the Dams page. Though these kittens are not visual chocolates, they are 100% chocolate carriers and 50% or 2 kittens are dilute carriers. Meaning they possess the gene to create these rare colors. The two Persians in this litter should also be CPCs or Color Point Carriers. If you have any questions about Pansy's DNA or her current litter of kittens, please feel free to contact us.

July 5, 2012 - Creative Way Pansy Nurses
We just had to blog about what we found Pansy doing when we went to give her some food tonight. We had been concerned during the day because Pansy is small and the babies are very large. The nipples are spaced in relationship to Pansy's small size. However, when you have four babies wanting their meal, They just don't all fit. It has gotten crowded. We had considered what a friend recommended, and that was, having Pansy nurse them two at a time. Well, Pansy being the very smart girl that she is, decided to be creative. We got quite the surprise when we found Pansy nursing her babies in a very creative way that worked. Remember she is a new mother. . So proud of our little new mother. She is really starting to hit her stride as a new mother. Last eveining we saw, for the first time, the babies starting to clean themselves. The newborns are now fat and adorable. You can go to Our Nursery page to see pictures of Pansy's creative way of nursing. It sure looks uncomfortable.

July 5, 2012 - A Slide Show of Our Newest Babies Up Close and Personal on Day 6 is Available in Our Nursery.
Pansy and Willie's babies made a mile stone today with all four of them having doubled their birth rate by Day 7. They have become so large that they are having trouble fitting around all the nipples together. We may also be seeing the first sign of the slint in the eye lids opening.
You can view the Slide Show by going to Our Nursery. They are viewed in their birth order. You can pause the slide show at any time. You will see the number of their birth at the bottom of each picture. Right now, we are holding off on identifying color and sex, while we wait for them to mature and the DNA test on Pansy to come in.

July 5, 2012 - Pictures Coming.
We were able to take some one on one pictures on July 4th of the babies. Due to time restraints, we were not able to post them on the 4th. Hopefully by the end of the day today or the 6th, we will have the pictures posted in Our Nursery page. So please stay tuned.

July 3, 2012 - Introducing the Newest Addition to Our Cattery Family
Today is Day 5 in our newborns life. From all appearances, we think that this charming little one is a Black or Chocolate Persian girl. We are awaiting the verification of DNA regarding her color and for her to age a little more to verify sex. If this baby is a girl, we have already named her "The Perfect Dahlia". Special thanks to Lila for suggesting this cute name. If it is a boy, it will be named after one of the good kings in the Bible. We are planning on adding this beautiful baby to our breeding program and to show her or him at a CFA show. We definitely feel blessed to have her. She was a gift from heaven as was all the sweet babies of this litter. You can see more of her and her siblings in "Our Nursery".
We are planning to post a new video and information on the newborns by late evening July 4th.

July 3, 2012 - A Jed and Andy Must Read
Jed (Cream Persian) and Andy (Zack-Cream Point Himalayan) are from our Petunia Lilymae's 2011 Litter. They live with their family on the other side of the state in the high Smokey Mountains. This is a must read from their mother that came today. "Wish you had been here to see our two boys this morning. We have a 5 mile Greenway that runs down by the river and Jake and I go down there early in the morning to walk. When we got home and were coming up the mountain I realized there was about a 100 pound black bear on the deck - probably one of last years cubs. We have them on the deck getting into our bird feeders from time to time since we are surrounded by National Forest land. He was a beauty and ambled down off the deck after he saw us. After I watched him disappear into the woods, I realized there were no cats in sight. Just then Andy stuck his head very cautiously around the hall door and his blue eyes were huge and then creeping up behind him with equally huge copper eyes was Jed. Apparently Mr. Bear was a little too much for them since they are still looking all around, looking over their shoulders. I didn't have time to grab my phone or my camera but it was quite a sight." If you all know Jed, from Faye's writings, you know he is one very active little boy and his brother Andy is just as gentle as can be. I guess Jed found out he was not as fierce as he thought he was. It ended up ,roles were reversed when Jed saw the bear. Thank you for sharing this funny story with us Faye. You have to laugh at this one. You can read more of Faye's stories about Jed and Zack by going to the Adopted Kittens page. Jed is quite famous now with his picture all over Google.

July 2, 2012 - If You Blink You Might Miss Something At Our Cattery
Boy, are things busy at our Cattery! I mean so busy. If you even blink, things have changed.
First off, The Perfect Primrose, Cream Persian carrying the chocolate gene mated with Willie Wonka today. We will bring her in to see him for the next several days. Confirmation of her pregnancy can be made July 23rd or thereafter.
Second, The Perfect Peony, Tortie Point Himalayan carrying the chocolate gene has just finished her time with mating with Willie Wonka. Willie has been one busy boy this week. Confirmation of her pregnancy will be made on July 18th or thereafter.
Third, the rate at which Pansy and Willie's babies are growing is astonishing to us at the Cattery. They are blowing away every record we have had at the Cattery so far. At this rate, we expect they will be opening their eyes early, walking early, etc. Their weight is astounding to us. They are so fat and healthy, fighting over their claim to their particular nipple ... so mature, so fast. We have thought long and hard over these little ones and their very positive and awesome steps. The conclusion we have reached was that several things made for these awesome newborns. They are as follows:
1. Kitty Bloom VM 900+3 Vitamins and Xtrabloom Wate which was given during Pansy's pregnant and also during her lactating (nursing) period. She has produced high quality and quanity of milk. The kittens have been very active and mature from in the womb, birth and now. These vitamins have made a believer out of us.
2. Having a new outcross/pedigree line added to our Cattery. Willie Wonkas line has some very famous and prestigeous cats in his lineage such as Grand Champion My Tys My Fudgecicle of Uno Belgatto and Champion Crayola Cats Kit-Kat. Kit-Kat was Willie's grandfather and Fudgecicle was Willie's other grandfather. Two of the babies look just like Kit-Kat. We could not locate a picture of Fudgecicle but both are famous Chocolate Persians.
3. Feeding Pansy premium wet cat food at every meal with her vitamins during pregnancy and her lactating (nursing) period. She always had access to the Royal Canin Queen Formula Dry but preferred the premium wet cat food. This is the first time we feed almost solely wet food to one of our pregnant girls.
4. Probably most important, Pansy's dedication as a loving mother. Even when she was in pain with Mastitus (caused by early production), fed her babies without wavering. You can not ask for a better mother. Her mother taught her well!
Please enjoy the two videos of Pansy and Willie's babies available on "Our Nursery" and "YouTube Videos" pages.

July 1, 2012 - Day 2 of Pansy and Willie's Babies - YouTube Video
The newborns are growing so fast it is taking our breathe away. It seems that every few hours there are more changes. They have all gained at least 31 or more grams in just the 2 1/2 days they have been out of the womb. They have very fat bellies. They just started fighting over nipples today. Pansy is doing great and is a very good mom to her babies. The Himis are already showing their color on most of their points. Every couple of hours, the colors grow stronger. Wow, so fast. We believe one is a Seal Point and hopefully the other one is a Chocolate Point. We are awaiting the DNA test results.
We have just uploaded two YouTube videos of the babies taken late this afternoon. You can subscribe to our YouTube channel to be notified everytime we upload another video. If you enjoy the video, please "like" our video and leave your comments. You can find the video on our new "Our Nursery" page or the "YouTube Videos" page, as well as on our YouTube Channel entitled "weloveourkittens". Enjoy the movie.

June 30, 2012 - Our Nursery - Update on Pansy and the Babies
We have added a new page to our website today entitled "Our Nursery". In Our Nursery, we will feature all our new Persian and Himalayan litters, including their photos, videos, parents, and pedigrees. Our babies will remain on our Nursery page until they are made available on the Available Kitten Page. Please enjoy watching the videos and looking at pictures of our newborns. Each day the babies change. It could be their color changing, or their size, or them walking or their eyes opening. It is always an exciting time at the Cattery when the babies arrive.
Pansy's babies are doing fabulously. They already have put on at least 16 grams each in their first 36 hours out of the womb. At this rate, they will double their birth weight faster than the average. They are very content babies since Pansy is producing plenty of milk for them. My thanks to Xtrabloom Wate vitamins for that. You rarely hear them cry since their bellys are full. They sleep in between their feedings. Boy, are these little ones changing fast. Pansy was exhausted from the hard labor but was able to clean them up today. Currently, it looks to be two black Persians with jet black shiny coats just like their mother's shiny coat. This whole group seems to be very mature right out of the womb. Even the Himis are starting to have color show up on the ears, legs and tail. This leads us to believe they will be Seal Point, Tortie Point or Chocolate Point. Hopefully Pansy's DNA test results will be in to us by next week so we can verify if she is a Chocolate carrier. One interesting tidbit ... the two Persians sleep together and the two Himis sleep together when they are not all huddled up in a ball together. We found that very interesting. Anyone like to measure a guess? Stay tune for hopefully a video and more pictures of these fast growing newborns on Monday. Oh by the way, our first inspection makes us thing this is a litter of all girls. We have not wanted to disturb them to much but will get a better inspection later.

June 29, 2012 - Pansy's Babies
Pansy had her babies last night between 3:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. She had two Persians and two Himalayans. Its really is too early to tell colors, plus we want to wait for her DNA results which should be to us at any time. She had one extreme faced kitten and three doll face kittens. We have waited a long time for an extreme faced kitten so we are very happy. The extreme faced just happens to be one of the Persians and the first to be born. Her labor was rather difficult for her since it was her first time, but all babies made it safely out of the womb. She is exhausted from the experience. The babies are all nursing on her. We do have a Jed in this litter, the last out and one of the Himis. This was one very busy little newborn. The newborn was moving so quickly it was hard to even detach the placenta. He/She latched right on to a nipple. He/She is the larger of the two Himis.
Our camera had broke so we borrowed a camera for the taping of the delivery. Unfortunately, the card did not hold enough space for the video and the video was grainy. We did get some pictures though of her babies. The kittens have not been cleaned up by their mother yet since she was too exhausted. Now, we are headed to bed. Enjoy.

June 28, 2012 - Update on Pansy
Pansy is on Day 63 of her pregnancy. We thought she was starting in labor this afternoon but now all is quiet. She is still eating her food. The babies are still kicking away. On Tuesday, Wednesday and today we found several heartbeats beating away. They were moving so much it was heart to keep track of them. We are revising our thoughts to say that we think she will probably have two to three kittens. She may still surprise us. It is just a matter of a waiting game at this point. She is very calm and resting a lot. Stay tune for the latest. We are going to try to video tape the birthing of her babies. If it turns out to be informative and we have no unexpected or unfortunate surprises, we will post it on our YouTube channel. You can subscribe to our YouTube channel by clicking on the link for our YouTube Videos.
Peonys is already starting in a heat cycle so her mating with Willie this last time did not take. She has already been with Willie today but since she has just started her heat, she will not be really ready until Saturday for him.

June 26, 2012 - What a Beautiful Day
Today is such a gorgeous day in North Carolina. We have a nice cool breeze and wonderful sunshine to go with it. The windows are all open and the breeze is gently coming in. The gang has played hard all morning long and now they are down for their long afternoon cat nap. Just couldn't resist a few pictures of the gang sleeping. Just click on the picture to get to pause the picture.
All our preparations are completed for Pansy's babies to enter our world. Pansy's temperature has not dropped yet nor has her appetite stopped. Labor will start within 12 to 24 hours of when Pansy's temperature drops and she stops eating. One of her babies was kicking so hard last night when I had my hand on her stomach that my hand jumped away when it kicked. It felt like the babies hands and feet were going to come straight out of her side. So we know we have at least one wild little kitten that wants out now. Its hard to keep track of who is kicking and their specific locations. Our best guess at this point in time is it that she is either carrying 3 or 5 kittens. She is such a champ and just acts like nothing is really going on. Stay tune for further updates on Pansy.
June 25, 2012 - Newest Pictures of Buttercup, A Very Pregnant Pansy and Sweet Joseph
We have grabbed some new photos today of Buttercup in her summer coat with her gorgeous eye color. A very pregnant Pansy is within one week of delivery of her kittens. Look at her fabulous eye color. Then there is busy Sweet Joseph. He always looks away when we try to take his pictures. We think he is camera shy like Pansy. Enjoy the slide show.

June 20, 2012 - Peony Mated - Update on Pansy's Pregnancy - Catnip Bubbles:
On June 13th-14th and 18th, Peony was mated with Willie Wonka. She is scheduled to have pregnancy confirmation on July 4th or thereafter. June 18th was the last day she was in heat. So we are hopefully that she is pregnant. Since she is half the size of Willie Wonka, the difference in size does cause problems with their actual mating. Hopefully practice makes perfect for them. Willie Wonka sure does not mind the practice. LOL
Pansy now has a huge appetite! She is going through 2 cans of kitten wet food each day. Her tummy is getting tight and very firm. You can feel her babies moving and kicking most of the time now. We are nearing completion of having her nursery completely disinfected and ready for her babies. The new custom made screen doors are up and the rest of the gang now has to watch Pansy from the screen door in the hallway. We do let her go out and about when she wants to but she really is enjoying her new digs all by herself. The pregnancy room has been completely disinfected after we got up our new screen door for that room. We are getting excited to see Pansy's new babies and see what she and Willie produced. We are awaiting her DNA testing results to verify if she is a chocolate and dilute carrier. Hopefully the results are in by next week.
Today we introduced a new toy into our Cattery. It is Catnip Bubbles with superconcentrated catnip extract. It is a non-toxic mix of natural catnip extract and bubbles. Our girls and our sweet and curious boys loved watching the bubbles flying through the air. Buttercup was the first to try to touch the bubbles, followed by curious Joseph. If the Catnip Bubbles take off as a new toy and we find that most of the cats really enjoy them, we will try it on our new babies once they reach an appropriate age. If it takes off with our new babies, we will be offering it as part of our Kitten Care Kit. Stay tuned for pictures of our cats playing with the bubbles.

June 13, 2012 - Peony and Primrose Updates
Boy, are we busy at the Cattery getting ready for the first 2012 babies. We are putting in special custom made screen doors this week in both our remodeled nursery and our pregnancy room. These screen doors will allow ventilation to flow and allow our pregnant girls to be secluded from our very curious and friendly gang as they await their new babies arrival. They still will be able to see one another, but the gang will not have access to those rooms. The screen door in the Nursery will also help isolate the mom and her new babies from the rest of our pregnant girls when the babies arrive. We will be working on cleansing both the remodeled nursery and the pregnancy room once the screen doors are up.
Pansy is doing great and getting rounder each day. This week she started looking around for a place to have her babies. Of course, we found her one day in the very back of the closet on top of the shoes. We even found a dresser door opened by her. So she is right on schedule. She is currently on Xtrabloom Wate vitamins to help her maintain her energy and prepare her and her babies for birthing.
Peony, our Tortie Point Himalayan, has now just started back into heat. We are slowly reintroducing her to Willie Wonka, our Chocolate Point Himalayan, for breeding. We are planning for her to visit with Willie for her complete heat cycle.
Unfortunately, Primrose did not get pregnant the last time she was bred to Willie. We are planning to rebred her to Willie Wonka on her next heat cycle.
Please stay tuned for our latest updates.

June 6, 2012 - My First Encounter With The Precious Babies
Well, on Monday night, I had my first encounter with the babies, Pansy's unborn babies that is. I had just gone to bed and Pansy jumped on the bed and came over and laid by the side of my pillow. I petted her and then she let me gentle put my hand on her tummy. And low and behold, the babies were moving. Not kicking, just moving all around. It was precious! It is awesome to think that those little live wires will make their entrance into our world in 3 weeks. Pansy was gracious to let me keep my hand on her tummy for quite a while. When I woke up later, she was still beside me in deep sleep. I put my hand on her tummy and all was quiet. The babies were taking a cat nap with their mother. Everyday Pansy is getting larger and larger and eating more and more. Starting today, she now gets her wet kitten food served to her twice a day. Her Royal Canin Queen dry food is always available to her. At this rate, she will be huge by the time 3 weeks is out. Wish I could get into her mind and know what she is thinking when she feels all that movement in her tummy. This being her first time at motherhood, I wonder if she is just taking it all in stride. One thing I do know, her mother's instinct to protect is already there. She is going to make such a great mother I have no doubt.

June 4, 2012 - Cute Pics
We ran and got out our camera today to take this cute picture of Sweet Benjamin, our Cream Persian, as he slept on the table by the front porch window with the bird feeder. Benjamin, Joseph and Pansy all love watching the birds eating at the bird feeder, which is hanging just a few feet away from the window. Yesterday, we had baby birds on the porch floor eating the seed and the boys could hardly contain themselves. They had baby birds within one to three feet away and only a glass window stood between them and a play thing or maybe they were thinking more on the food lines. Benjamin has taken to sleeping by the window since he always has a ready view of the birds and the glass top feels cool to him. He is a sweet and beautiful cat that is available for adoption.
Peony, our Tortie Point Himalayan decided she could not be left out and wanted her picture taken also. Just look at those long ear tuffs. The longest sections are just over 4" long. Now that is pretty long ear tuffs for a girl who is petite at 5 lbs fully grown. She will be mated to Willie Wonka next time she goes in to heat.
You can click on any of the pictures to enlarge them. We are still trying for some pictures of Joseph but he is an active boy and we just can't get him to stay still long enough. We will keep trying though.

June 3, 2012 - Pregnancies and Kitty Bloom Vitamins
We are now only 3 1/3 weeks from Pansy delivering her babies. Her babies are due on June 27, give or take a few days on either side. She is popping at the seams. At certain times, you can feel her babies on her sides popping out. We should be able to start to feel them move very soon. We started her this week on Kitty Bloom vitamins which she took to very well with her wet food. She is also on her Royal Canin Queen Formula Dry Food. She is eating quite a bit of food now. We will prepare her birthing bed this week so she can explore it and get use to it. We are so excited about her first litter. She should have beautiful babies. We are hoping for some extreme faced kittens as well as doll faced kittens with this litter. We will just have to wait and see what gifts are brought to us.
Peony does not appear to be pregnant but acts like she may be starting into her next heat cycle. When she is in full heat, she will be put with Willie Wonka for mating. This time, we will leave them together for a longer period of time. They get along well together. We will keep you informed on this blog on when she goes into heat and when she is mated.
Primrose so far is not showing any signs of being pregnant but we do want to wait a little bit longer to confirm this.
We have started using Kitty Bloom Vitamin products at our Cattery. We are using Kitty Bloom V-900+3 for Pansy till this Wednesday when she will go on Kitty Bloom Extrabloom Wate. The Extrabloom Wate should help her and her babies through delivery and into nursing. We will be providing each new parent with a Kitty Bloom brochure and a sample of Kitty Bloom vitamins for their new baby or babies. Kitty Bloom vitamins are highly recommended by Persian and Himalayan breeders.
If you have any questions regarding our upcoming litter(s), please contact us. If you would like to be on the wait list for one of our kittens, please fill out the Kitten Application and email or mail it back to us. We will then contact you after we have contacted references.

May 30, 2012 - News on Jed and Andy
Jed (Sweet Jediadiah), a Cream Persian and our live wire from birth and Andy (Sweet Zachariah),a Cream Point Himalayan one of our sweet lapcats live high in the mountains of North Carolina with the Jacobsons, Merlin (Flame Point Himalayan) and Tashi, their small dog. The Jacobson's write: "Just wanted to report on our boys. Andy is a big, big, boy but still just as sweet and loving as when I first held him. He always has the sweetest expression on his face and those blue eyes look at you with such love and innocence. And then, there is Jed. He is a live wire but entertains us daily. He is a loving guy too but just in very short amounts of time. He is much smaller than Andy with the most intense copper eyes ever. He doesn't look at you -- he looks through you!! He has really warmed up to Jake and also to our son while he was home. He would actually let Chris pick him up and hold him - even walk around the house with him. He gets in Jake's lap but doesn't stay long -- he is on to the next thing! He loves pens and pencils so we don't dare leave one on a table. He will roll them around a while and then walk around with them in his mouth like a stick. Jake said this morning, after he took away the third one from Jed, that he was sure that Jed was going to take up writing and become a journalist since he has such a fascination for all writing tools!" We want to thank the Jacobsons for keeping us updated on our precious boys from our 2011 litters. You can read more about their two boys by going to our Adopted Kittens page.

May 26, 2012 - Memorial Day Weekend
As we remember those who gave their lives for the freedoms we all enjoy in the US today, we want to say thank you. We want to say a special thank you to all our servicemen who are currently serving our country in some very hostile places around the word. We remember you and pray for your safety and safe return home. We also thank your families for all the many sacrifices they make. May God bless and keep you safe.
An update on Peony. Poor Peony. She has been turned over so much this week and looked at to see if she had pinked up and we could comfirm her pregnancy. She has been a pretty good trooper about it. Sometimes it looks like she had pinked up and then other times it didn't. She has not gone back into heat. She is getting a little bit bigger. So we just don't quite know yet if she is pregnant. Some females do not pink up to later in their pregnancy. But our best guess is that she is not pregnant. She may still surprise us all. If she is not pregnant and Primrose is, then we will try again to breed Peony to Willie a little later but in time for kittens to be ready for their new homes at Christmas time.
Pansy is getting bigger each day. Our baby is now going to have babies. She does leave the pregnancy room and get out among her siblings, but then when we go looking for her we find her back in the pregnancy room. She really acts like she loves her new space. Her mother, Primrose should be able to be checked starting Wednesday to see if she is pregnant.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by email or phone.
Have a wonderful Memoral Day weekend.

May 16, 2012 - Good News is Abounding at the Cattery
We are full of good news at our Cattery. First and of most importance ... an update on the status of our girls and their pregnancies. So far we can confirm that Pansy (Tortoiseshell Persian) is pregnant. She was already pinking up even before the 3rd week and already has a nice big tummy. We will try to get her DNA test in the mail this week to verify she is a chocolate carrier. We still need more time for the confirmation of Peony's pregnancy (Tortie Point Himalayan). Peony is a small girl (5 lbs.) and this would be her first pregnancy so we are not quite sure how quickly her pregnancy verification will take. It may be that her hormones are still not strong enough to show or that she may not be pregnant. We do not want to call it wrong, so we will give it another week. I will be checking her everyday for the next week. Primrose (Cream Persian and Pansy's mother) was mated to Willie Wonka last Friday, the 11th and we will be able to confirm her pregnancy on June 1st. This was a surprise to us since Primrose did not take a liking to Willie up to this point. But she went in to heat and we stayed with her during each mating. She accepted him and he her. We feel pretty confident that Primrose will be pregnant. She didn't have any trouble when she was first mated last year with getting pregnant and having her babies. It has been a long wait for us at the Cattery while the girls got adjusted to the new male in the house and accepting him.
Second ... we have just finished the remodeling of the girl's Pregnancy Room and our new Nursery. Pansy and Primrose are already in the Pregnancy Room where they can now have exclusively the Royal Canin Queen food for expecting and nursing moms. They seem to really like their new room. We love the idea that it is finally done. The project was started last August. When it gets closer to delivery time, each girl will be moved into the smaller Nursery to have their babies there. The babies and mother will stay in the Nursery room until their babies are walking. Our other new Nursery is still not completed but we are nearing completion. It will be great to have it done also. We hope to have it completed prior to our second delivery so each mother can have her own Nursery. We will have the mothers, comother the babies when the kittens are up walking. Pansy should be an excellent mother since Primrose, her mother, was an excellent mother. We already have seen Pansy displaying her mothering skills since she was a baby herself. She loves to clean everyone, even humans. We have already bought great new nursery toys. These little guys will be spoiled. Ok. we are getting ahead of ourselves, but we are so excited. First to be done with the major part of the remodeling, second that Willie did get at least one of our girls pregnant so far and that babies are due in about 6 weeks from now. Now we will start praying for the best parents for our tiny new ones. If you are interested in one of our upcoming litters, please fill out the Kitten Application found on the Kitten Application page. You can either email or mail it back to us. Once we have reviewed your application, we will be in contact with you. Please only serious inquiries only.

April 25, 2012 - Our 2012 Litters Update
CH Willie Wonka X The Perfect Peony
CH Willie Wonka X The Perfect Pansy
Many of you have contacted us about our 2012 Litters. While, we finally have some very good news to report. Pansy (Tortoiseshell Persian) was mated with Willie (CH Chocolate Point Himalayan) this morning. Since she accepted Willie and Willie accepted her and they have mated once, we will let them be together for the next three days. Peony (Tortie Point Himalayan) just went out of heat today. She was with Willie from April 20th to just this morning. It will take three weeks to verify if Peony or Pansy are pregnant from their matings with Willie. So approximate May 11 for Peony's verfication and May 16 for Pansy's verification, give or take a few days. If they are pregnant, then their babies should be due 9 weeks from their first mating. So for Peony, her babies would be expected June 22 or thereafter. For Pansy, her babies would be expected June 27 or thereafter. The kittens would be available to go to their new homes 13 weeks after the date of birth or shortly after September 22 and September 27, 2012. We are current excepting applications for these litters. Please note that we do already have applications pending while we await the verification of the first pregnancy. So if you are interested in any kitten(s) from these litters, we encourage you to send in your Kitten Application. Applications and their approval are on a first come, first serve basis. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Now that Pansy has been mated, we will be sending in her DNA for DNA testing and verification that she is a chocolate carrier.

April 18, 2012 - Hairball Remedy
It is that time of year now ... shedding season. At our Cattery, we regularly use a paste hairball remedy in a tube to help keep our babies digestive and intestinal systems working perfectly. With the heavy coats of our babies, the hair either goes on the floor, on the grooming comb or in their digestive track. We prefer the hair to go to the grooming comb. For our 2012 litters, we are now adding to our Kitten Care Kit that comes with each new kitten, a 2.5 oz tube of Hairball Remedy Paste. We hope our new parents use this paste on an at least weekly basis for their new kitten. Our babies are use to getting their hairball treatment as a treat after they are groomed. They actually lick it right out of the tube. They love the paste and think of it as a big treat. During shedding season, we usually up the amount of hairball remedy they get.

Best Friends - Calla Lily and Alex
Recently Heather, parent to The Perfect Calla Lily (Flame Point Himalayan), sent us this pic and comments via Facebook. "They are both resting in this pic. Lily cleans Alex (Seal Point Himalayan) more often than he cleans her. They are both fixed, but Alex tries to go through the motions and he massages Lily's back-hilarious!! She has enough when he tries to bite her neck! They have what we call "kitty smack down" all the time. They wrestle and chase each other all through the house. It sounds like a herd of elephants. Lily is even more obsessed with water now!" Thanks Heather for updating us on these cute love birds. They are both pictured here in their lions cut. You can read more about Calla Lily by visiting the Adopted Kittens page.
April 5, 2012 - The Cream Persians
This is our third blog of the day so please don't forget to scroll down to read all the entries for today. We could not resist posting these precious pictures we have entitled "The Creams". Yes, there are three Cream Persians sitting on the floor looking out on the front porch at the bird feeder and also in the breakfast room on the window sill looking out at the birds. This is Primrose with her two boys, Sweet Benjamin and Sweet Joseph. Even though they each have their own unique personalities, when it comes to birds, I guess you could say like mother, like sons. The picture on the window sill: Primrose on right, Benjamin in the middle and Joseph on the left. A little harder on the floor to tell the difference from the back, but it is definitely Sweet Joseph in the middle. He loves laying like that and just look at the amazing huge coat of fur. This will be the last litter of Creams for a while since we will have to have a male sire that is a dilute or dilute carrier in order to have Creams again. We are thoroughly enjoying these two precious kittens while they are with us. They are a delight everyday! I am so honored to be able to have a "cage free" Cattery where kittens and cats can live a normal safe life indoors and enjoy all that it offers.

April 5, 2012 - Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat - Kitten Kits - UPDATED
We are very proud to have become a recent Precious Cat Breeder Partner. This partnership will be benefitual to our adoptive parents and to our kittens. Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat is providing a Kitten Kit to each newly adopted kitten parent once they have filled out the postcard at the time of adoption. The Kitten Kit includes a 31 page booklet entitled "Dr. Elsey's Litter Box Solutions. In this booklet, they have provided 7 coupons, including a Royal Canin coupon as well as coupons for the different types of Dr. Elsey's products. Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Litters are the top of the line litter products and come in numerous types of litter for your kitten/cat. Dr. Elsey's products include: Cat Attract, Kitten Attract, Precious Cat Classic and Ultra Litters, Cat Attract Litter Additive, Precious Cat Ultra Litter Attractant and Urine Removal Program with Aromatherapy.
We have very smart babies that usually potty train in one day with no accidents later and at most two days flat. We may add Attract Liiter Additive to their All Natural Feline Pine when we start potty training them just to make it even easier. When our babies reach 8 weeks old, they are going to be switched over from the Feline Pine and start using Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra litter.
According to other Persian and Himalayan breeders who recommended the Dr. Elsey's litter, you do not have to use as much litter because it clumps so hard. So that means you are buying litter less often. In addition, they now offer a litter for the Senior pet and also for those arthritic and post surgery cats. They even have a litter for Respiratory Relief. Bet you didn't even know there was so many types of litters out there to fulfill the special needs of your kittens and cats.
April 5, 2012 - Peony's DNA SNP Test Results Are In
We have just received Peony's DNA SNP tests results from Texas A&M University. You may view her DNA SNP test results by clicking on the link. She was negative for all diseases that Texas AM University screened for. You can view her DNA Snap test results by clicking on the link. Peony was verified as a Seal Tortie Point Himalayan. She is also a chocolate and dilute carrier. When she is bred to Willie Wonka (Chocolate Point Himalayan), we will expect 100% Himalayans of which 50% will be visual Chocolate Points or Chocolate Tortie Points. The other 50% will be chocolate carriers and either be Seal Points, Flame Points or Seal Tortie Points. Also 50% of the litter will be dilute carriers. There will be no visual dilutes in this litter since Willie is not a dilute carrier (Cream, Blue or Lilac). Congrats Peonys on being a chocolate and dilute carrier.

Time has flown by since we last blogged. Our breeding schedule this spring has been delayed due to trying to get Willie (CH Chocolate Point Himalayan) adjusted to his new home in our family. It has been a hard adjustment for him since he came from a caged Cattery in California. We are very happy he is away from that caged environment and is now in an environment for which he can blossom. Our home is cage free and we give love freely and easily. Our Persian and Himalayan gang of girls and neutered boys all get along well together. It will be just a matter of time before Willie learns to accept and relate to our playful and loving gang.
Peony (Tortie Point Himalayan) has just started her heat cycle so we may try this week to put her in with Willie on a supervised visit to see how he relates to her. We are so excited and ready to have babies and are just waiting for Willie to be ready.

We have been busy beavers with our blogging today. Please see the newest pictures of Sweet Viola sent from the Scotts today. Per the Scotts: "Funny enough Stormy (Viola) found a way to make her own toy. We have two of the round scratchers that have the ball that goes around in it and she takes her little cube hideout toys and pulled it on top of the scratcher. She runs around, jumps in it, bats through it ..... basically has the time of her life with it. Like you said, smart cats! She created that one on her own! I am attaching a picture or two." You can see more of Sweet Viola/Stormy on the Adopted Kittens Page.

We just recently took some new closeup pictures of Primrose and Peony's eyes. Peony's eyes took a lot time to develop their mature eye color, but it was worth the wait. Her mature eye color is light on the outer rim going to a deep blue toward the pupil. Some days it is hard to tell where the eye color stops and the pupil starts. Hopefully she passes on this deep blue eye color to her babies this year. Primrose has developed wonderful copper eyes and it was time to get a good close up of them. Enjoy the slide show.

Today CH Willie Wonka's DNA SNP test arrived. He is negative for all diseases that Texas AM University screened for. You can view his DNA Snap test results by clicking on the link. Willie was verified as a visual chocolate. He is not a dilute carrier for which we were disappointed about. He will not being siring any lilacs for us. However, with our breeding of Primrose (Visual Dilute), we are expecting 100% of the kittens to be chocolate and lilac carriers. In addition, we expect 50% visual Chocolate colors, which could include Chocolate Persian, Chocolate Tortoiseshell Persian, Chocolate Point and Chocolate Tortie Point. We also expect 50% Persians with the other 50% being Himalayans. It will be interesting to see how accurate our predictions are.
Once we have Peony's DNA results back, we will be able to determine what colors may be available between her match with Willie Wonka. We do know that the match between Peony (Tortie Point Himalayan) and Willie Wonka (Chocolate Point Himalayan) will lead to 100% Himalayan kittens .

Andy,(Cream Pt Himalayan) & Jed (Cream Persian)
Yesterday, the Jacobsons sent this very cute picture of Andy (Cream Point Himalayan) and Jed (Cream Persian) to us. They just had their 10 month birthday on the March 1st. Jed has his arm around Andy's body. Jed had actually been laying his head on Andy sleeping right before the picture. Just look at those deep copper eyes of Jeds. They peer right through you. Andy's eyes have turned out to be a beautiful medium blue like his mother, Petunia. Thank you to the Jacobsons for this wonderful picture of their boys. You can see more of Andy and Jake on the Adopted Kittens page.

On February 28, 2012, CH WIllie Wonka and Petunia Lilymae made the long trip down to Wilmington, North Carolina to see Dr. Williams at The Sound Cat for a Cardiac Ultrasound. Both Willie and Petunia were found to have strong hearts in addition to being negative for HCM. Dr. Williams even commented on Petunia's strong heart for being six years old. We appreciate Dr. Williams for her knowledge and support as she has now cardiac ultrasounded all our current sires and dams. We had Petunia's cardiac ultrasound performed so we could get an excellent idea, due to her age, if HCM was present in her lines. Most cases of HCM show up when a cat is 4 to 6 years old. So we are very happy that she scanned negative at her current age. Both Petunia and Willie were great in the car for the long three hour ride down and another three hour ride back. Petunia sat on our arm console most of the way, looking out the windows like it was old hat. She is such a trooper.

We could not resist this year showing everyone The Perfect Buttercup's incredible winter gorilla coat. Just look at those cheeks. Believe it or not, she is actually a petite girl but you could never tell by looking at her with that fur. This year it seems to be longer and thicker than ever. It is no small fet to keep her groomed. She got the fabulous coat and deep eye color from her daddy, Lord Chesterfield the First

On February 12, 2012, we welcomed our newest addition to our Cattery, Champion Willie Wonka from California. CH Willie Wonka is a Chocolate Point Himalayan. We are very excited about our first outcrossing to our Cattery lines. Willie, besides being a Champion, also has a great number of distinquished Grand Champions and Champions in his pedigree (within the first five generations). He has even sired several Champions himself. He will be our new sire for our 2012 litters.
He is settling in to his new home and is starting to let his personality show. He has just discovered "The Bug, aka, the laser mouse. It didn't take him any time to catch on to The Bug. When we gave him a new catnip mouse, he took it to town. Willie loves to be petted. We are going to try to see if we can make him into a possible lap cat. He knows there are girls in the house but he has just not been able to meet them face to face quite yet. Since we keep our house cool in the winter time, his fur is starting to grow out and thicken up. He has an extreme face but with larger nostrils so he does not have a problem breathing. His eyes go from a light blue to medium blue depending on the lighting and the time of day. We will take more pictures of him when he gets his winter coat in. We will be posting his distinguished pedigree by the first part of March. We are waiting the results from his DNA test. He has already tested negative for FELV and Feline Aids. He comes from PKD negative parents. On February 28, 2012 he is scheduled for his cardiac ultrasound at The Sound Cat. We look forward to the beautiful babies this fellow will sire. We do expect chocolate and lilac babies when Willie is paired with our chocolate and dilute carrier girls.

Victorian Gardens Cattery is now on Facebook. Just follow the highlighted link to become a Cattery friend on Facebook. We will shamelessly ask if you would please "like" our Facebook link above. We appreciate it.
Our Champion Chocolate Point Male named Willie Wonka arrived from California late on Sunday night after three flights and roughly 10 hours in a carrier. Poor Willie Wonka. Don't worry ... he is doing just fine. He did great on the 1 1/2 hour car ride home. He is now sequestered away from our gang while we wait for all his health tests. He went to the Vet on Tuesday for an exam, FELV test , Feline Aids test and Heart Worm Test. All test results were negative. His DNA test is being sent off tomorrow. Next Tuesday he goes to The Sound Cat in Wilmington, North Carolina for his cardiac ultrasound. If all goes well, we are planning on breeding him to The Perfect Primrose by March 11th, and may be as early as March 4th. The Perfect Peony will be breed to him about 4 days later. The litters would be expected in mid-May. The kittens would be available to be picked up by their adoptive parents around the end of July. If you would we interested in a kitten from one of these two litters, please fill out the Kitten Application found on the Kitten Application page. Please stay tuned, as we will start blogging as the events start to unfold. We will be posting Willie's fantastic pedigree up on our site as well as his pictures in the next few weeks. He has a very long and distinquished pedigree. We hope to achieve some very nice kittens from this boy.

Great news from our Cattery ...
First off ... exciting news ... We are planning on having three litters this year from our newest sire, CFA Champion Chocolate Point Himalayan (Extreme face), CH Cherrybirdie's Willie Wonka of Victorian Gardens Cattery. Willie has a great pedigree of famous Catteries like Uno Belgatto, My Ty and Crayola Cats to just name a few. He has loads of Champion and Grand Champions in his background. He has also sired several Champion kittens at Cherrybirdie's Cattery. We are still working on the perfect name for him, in the tradition of the Lords of England. Any help would be appreciated.
Willie will be sequestered for a month from our gang while he has a health exam, DNA test, FIV test and FELV test run on him, as well as a cardiac ultrasound. Once he passes all the health tests, we will start him off here at our Cattery with our Primrose (Cream Persian - Carrying the Chocolate Gene) and Peony's (Tortie Point Himalayan). Both litters would be expected around mid to late May and then on to Pansy (Tortoiseshell Persian) with her litter due around mid-September. Pansy's babies will be considered Christmas babies. From these litters, we are hopeful for some breeder/show quality kittens as well as some chocolate and lilac colored kittens. If you are interested in being on the wait list for one of our 2012 litters or being notified of their delivery, please contact us by either filling out the Kitten Application on our Kitten Application page and mailing or emailing it to us or calling us.
Second ... and very important ... our gang drove down to Wilmington, North Carolina on February 1, 2012, for cat cardiac ultrasounds at "The Sound Cat". During our visit at "The Sound Cat", all our current dams were found negative for the disease of HCM, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is the leading heart disease among cats. There is no DNA test as of yet for Persian and Himalayan cats for HCM. The best screening tool currently is the cardiac (heart) ultrasound. As of February 1, 2012, our policy is to have all our current and new dams and sires cardiac ultrasounded for HCM at "The Sound Cat" in Wilmington, North Carolina prior to being breed and every two to three years thereafter. This HCM screening is a very positive and forward thinking move on the part of our Cattery. Most Persian and Himalayan breeders are currently not screening all their dams and sires for this deadly disease due to the costs associated with these screenings. We congratulate our girls for being found negative in their first cardiac ultrasound for HCM as of February 1, 2012.
