aka: Moses
Extreme Face Male CPC Persian
Adopted by the Ciochina Family in
Leicester, NC
Moses was the life of the party in his litter. He loved to play, loved to kiss and loved to be petted. He almost always came running and crying wanting to be picked up and loved on. If I was sitting at my desk in the Toddler Room, he would literally jump on my thighs to get up to me. He had the highest nose pad of the litter. He is a very solid boy and heavy weighted. I predict he is going to be a big boy.
On August 1, 2014, our Moses went to his new home with the Ciochina family. Mike and Marci have two girls named Morgan and Aubrey. Moses name was changed to Mr. Tumnus since they already have a Moses in the family. Moses is their 4 year old large Old English Sheepdog. The Ciochina family had lost their Maine Coon, Mistoffelees, in August 2013 to HCM. They waited almost a year on our Wait List for their extreme face Persian. Here are the pictures and comments that Marci has sent in via email or posts to Facebook.

August 5, 2014, via email: "The first two days with Moses have been wonderful. You can see my post of our trip home on Facebook. He was the perfect traveler and just moved from person to person to snooze. He has already captured our hearts. When we got home, we brought him in and placed him in our room. He has a plethora of toys and has the bedroom, bathroom, walk in closet and attached laundry room to explore and explore he does. He is a wonderful kitty. He is not timid nor shy. He has not hid but has explored, played and napped. The first night, both Mike and I experienced, while sleeping, a sweet kitten coming up to us and kneading and nursing on our necks. He has his blanket and monster but apparently preferred us instead.
Yesterday was a day of play and rest. Aubrey pretty much spent the day with him in the room and played and napped with Tumnus. She is in love!! He is interested about what is on the other side of the door--another big fluffy Moses. He was reaching under the door to make contact. We may introduce them tomorrow after another day of getting acclimated. Last night he didn't make a sound which made for wonderful sleeping. He can sleep with us every night if he keeps this up!
Today he has already played, explored, walked on my keyboard as I was typing and in general, been adorable. I will let you know how the rest of the day goes. He is doing great!
Thank you again for all the wonderful goodies you gave to us. You really go above and beyond any breeder I have ever dealt with. It is a pleasure and shows just how much you care about these kittens and their ultimate care. I have loved reading about his siblings. I have my information folder ready for the vet which we will go to on Friday (I wanted to give him some time to adjust before we freak him out by a 30 minute trip to our vet). I will let you know how it goes. Have a great day. With blessings, Marci"
August 5, 2014, via email: "You have to hear this. This morning we were realizing that Tumnus did not ever seem to jump up. He jumped down perfectly fine but we couldn't get him to jump up. In fact, none of us had seen him jump. While in the computer room, he wanted to be near me, would lie on the floor but not jump in my lap. Then we realized he jumped down off the bed last night but did not jump back up, thus no nursing on our necks until Mike scooped him up this morning. So of course, I am thinking why? I even bought some kitty crack (aka tuna fish) to try to see if he would jump up for that.
Here is the funny part. I come home and open the door to our bedroom and Tumnus TEARS out. There was no trepidation, no pause. Nope, this kitten wanted out of our bedroom and into the whole house. I am serious. He started exploring immediately-walking up stairs, walking down stairs, jumping on furniture, running across the floor, climbing into cabinets. And to boot, he went right up to Moses and has not quaked a bit as Moses, who doesn't realize that he is a much bigger Old English Sheepdog, tries to play with him. I am trying to get pictures but they move every time I try. I just had to laugh. I think we were squelching his adventurous mojo! What a great cat :-) !"
August 6, 2014, via email: "Oh, get this, Tumnus this evening jumped into the shower while Morgan was in there. I heard her talk to him and apparently that is all it took. So he got wet which led to a bath-might as well--which led to the first lesson for Morgan on how to blow him out and comb him. I wonder if he will do that again?! :-) But I will tell you that he wanted nothing to do with us and is on the bed, "licking his wounds" so to speak. No comfort from his momma, no sucking on his monster, nope, a bit of an angry puss. Hopefully he'll snuggle more tonight because of this adventure. I bet Tumnus will give us many more stories over his lifetime. For now, I thought I would share of him as he is being dried. Classic!"
August 8, 2014, via email: "We went to the first vet appointment yesterday and Tumnus did great. He just konks out while traveling. He played, explored and slept while at the vet. Not a bit of nervousness about the whole thing. They of course had to parade him around to all the staff before the exam began. Aubrey and Tumnus even made the Animal Hospital of North Asheville's Facebook page (which I shared with you)."
August 22, 2014, via email: "Mr. Tumnus gets cuter everyday. Mike has been having him snuggle with him at night by putting his monster right near Mike's face. That gets him close by when he decides to quit nursing on his monster. He really is an incredible sleeper. He is a delight. I thought you might enjoy these two pictures of him in his Asheville Tourists baseball hat (formally a shaved ice bowl from the game that the girls got). Oh how that cat is loved on, carried around and well tortured by my girls as they think of ways to make him look cuter, all of which he patiently puts up with so well as you can see. :-) ! "
August 28, 2014, via email: "I wanted to share these pictures of our Mr. Tumnus. He is a great little kitty. He loves being a part of everything we are doing. From exploring the dishwasher while I am trying to do dishes to sleeping near me while I work on the computer, Tumnus is a loving cat. He is famous for laying underfoot while I am making dinner. Being black, we often don't see him so there is a lot of tripping in our house! The girls think the cutest thing he does is to look up at you and meow to be picked up. He can be downright insistent about it. Of course, we all think it is the cutest thing ever and happily comply! He is quite frugal with his purring thus far and only really does so when he is "nursing" on his stuffed animal. However, we have noticed he is doing it a bit more. Are Diamond or Willy like that--not a big purrer? As you can see from the pictures, he and Moses are getting along great. Mike has come around the corner at night to find them on the couch together (Of course, Moses is not allowed on the couch but maybe he figures if Tumnus is allowed, why shouldn't he be?!). They play, they sleep, they try to eat each other's food. Yup, I would say that Tumnus is fully integrated into the Ciochina family now!"
September 9, 2014, via email: "Mr. Tumnus is just such a cutie patootie who is getting more adventurous. When I am on the computer, he has to come up and climb on my keyboard. He follows us around and loves to rub against us. He is just adorable. Oh, Aubrey found a build a bear top the other day so of course, the next time I looked, Tumnus had it on. He is so sweet and tolerant. It was ridiculous looking. "
September 12, 2014, via email: "I will give Tumnus a big kiss for you. His little flat face is so kissable that I think he is getting sufficiently sick of the many kissed on his sweet face that I give him daily. I love, love, love this cat!"
November 3, 2014, via email regarding his Neuter Surgery: "Girl, you are a worry wart? I wanted to know at exactly what time he would be out of surgery and even though I had sent Dr. Duncan the instructions from you last week to give him time to read them, I discussed them again with him. Great news, Mr. Tumnus is fine!!! I got the call at about noon that he was done with surgery and was already looking around. He stayed there, in recovery luxury (they do it right at our vet) until this evening 5:30 when we could pick him up and get him directly home. She had pictures of him recuperating and he apparently was a snuggle bunny and stayed in the one techs arms for a long time as he roused. They all love him!! They gave him some medicine for his pain that we will give him before we go to bed but he came home and ate and is resting. He isn't thrilled about being kept in our room but the patient coordinator said no stairs. He'll just have to hang with us and give us love whether he wants to or not! I think he will be just fine but I will keep you abreast of how he is. I am so happy he is over this surgery and now he can get on with being the wonderful chill cat that he is. (oh, it was so cute, on the way to school this morning, as he had to ride with us so I could drop him off, we picked up two other students. Tumnus just made himself at home on their laps, repositioning himself on them or between them. He is so funny--loves everyone, isn't afraid of anything and just so good natured. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him!!! "
November 15, 2014, via email: "Aubrey took a nature walk with Mr. Tumnus down our driveway to show him the fall colors. She met us as we were driving in just in time for Morgan to do a Lion King pose and give a kiss to his very flat face. Amazingly, Tumnus didn't once try to jump, but I told Aubrey she may NEVER do that again!"
November 18, 2014, via email: "The girls and I were looking at these winning cats and in our opinion, your blacks are so much prettier! There were a few that we just had to laugh at. I have enjoyed seeing how pretty your black cats are. Can I just tell you that I love, love, love my Tumnus? He is the biggest chill cat I have ever seen. At dinner Aubrey got him on his back and he just "hung" out. Strangers come in and he goes right up to them. He is so uncatlike. What a doll he is. Thanks for breeding such beautiful and sweet cats!"
November 19, 2014, via email: "Let's see, I don't see any stubbornness in Tumnus. I just know that he is so relaxed or "chill". Strangers come in, he doesn't care; I run the vacuum, he comes towards it; I give him a bath, he sits in the tub with me while I do it; Aubrey takes him on a nature walk in her arms down the property, he takes it all in and resigns himself to the fact that he is being carried on a long walk (I told her to NEVER do that again!!); He sits in the girls arms when picked up. He was raved about at the vets, very easy going. He will not sit on our laps nor curl up next to us but he likes to be near us. He often will actually come up and meow to be picked up, although that never lasts for long. The pictures below prove how "chill" he is. Put him on his back and he'll just hang out. LOVE THIS CAT!!!
So honestly, Tumnus must be more like Willy because he is not stubborn nor strong willed that I perceive. He is social, adventurous or should I say inquisitive, very sweet and loving. We truly lucked out. I am hoping that as he matures, he will crave some lap time a bit. I think you are producing absolutely gorgeous cats who look like Persians without being too much like a American or British Shorthair which I think many of these Persians end up looking like (or like regular run of the mill tabby cats with long fur). Keep up the good work and know that "chill" is a wonderful thing. It is a pleasure having a cat that you know will never use their claws on you and is good natured! We are heading to Disney for the week but have found a lovely young man who was a student at our school and then a missionary in England. He came to check it all out and fell in love with Tumnus! "
January 9, 2014: " I have to tell you that yesterday we had a workman out and Tumnus immediately went up to him, then followed him around the house from floor to floor as he worked. He even sat on the loud compressor which most animals would run from. The guy said, are you sure he's not deaf? I said no, he just is the most brave and sweet cat ever!! I love that about him. I got a new phone so I am going to try to get some good pictures of him which is so hard to do. Any hints you can give on the website about photographing darker cats would be a great help for those of us with the darker ones. Any hints you could give me would be great. He is such a beautiful cat and pictures NEVER do him justice!"
January 23, 2014, via Facebook: "Since I have now officially joined this century and have a new iPhone I thought I would practice my skills of uploading video by posting this video I captured of my chill kitten. Impressive isn't it?"

March 1, 2014, via email: "Okay, we all have these wonderful black cats and from what I am seeing, they are all awesome!! I cannot tell you how much we love Tumnus. That cat never has a bit of peace as we are either carrying him, calling him (which he comes a runnin'), grooming him or talking to him or loving on him. He is the most entertaining cat and is the biggest chill cat I have ever had. He still doesn't purr much but every once in a while, he will come up to me while we are in bed, and purr for a second.
Oh, I just have to share some pictures with you. Morgan and I took Tumnus out the day we had 8 inches and put him in it. It is the cutest thing ever. It didn't phase him but seeing him try to eat a weed coming up through the snow and to see him walk in it was so cute. I promise, he was well supervised by Morgan (whom I kept out of the shot but was literally an arm's length away) and was only out for about 2 minutes. The photo ops though, were great. However, as is the case always with Mr. Tumnus, the snow didn't phase him one bit. He did though, look like he went to sleep in a basket and then fell over afterwards. We have no idea how the last picture came about but it is so Tumnus!"
