Holly's kittens turned 12 weeks old today. How time has flown. Next weekend, all three kittens will be leaving for their new homes. We will miss this very unique litter that brought us our first Lilac Persian and Lilac Point Himalayan. After their bathes, they had their Victorian Carriage Photo Shoot which is a tradition here at the Cattery. You can see the full photo shoot in Holly's Nursery 2017. Enjoy.

Holly's kittens will be 9 Weeks old tomorrow. We were so busy over the last few weeks that we are just now getting to their Chamber Pot Photo Shoot. We start picks on this litter on Friday. They are beautiful kittens and rare colors. The Lilacs are the first for our Cattery. We received the DNA test result for the Tortie this week. She is a Chocolate Tortie Point. Holly's babies had their first bath today and then it was on to their first formal photo shoot. I am so impressed with this litter. They potty trained themselves. Yes, that is right. No help from me at all. The two Himis even weaned themselves right on to dry food without any assistance. The lilac boy sees me in the morning and just keeps crying and trying to get to me so I will feed him his wet food. Precious. These are three very smart babies. I have fallen in love with the Lilac color. Oh my. It really is soft and gorgeous. This was going to be Holly's last litter but now I am rethinking that. This litter is wow and she was a good mother all the way through. We are seriously contemplating keeping the Lilac boy as Toy's replacement. He is up against Petunia's either lilac or blue boy that was just born. What wonderful choices. You can see more of this photo shoot in Holly's Nursery 2017. Enjoy!

Litter Born: September 15, 2017
Holly had her litter on September 15th, between the hours of 7 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. She has 3 kittens. She has two Himalayans, one girl and one boy. I can't tell yet but my best guess is that they are either Chocolate Point or Seal Point. She also surprised me and had a Blue Persian boy, several hours later. From what I have seen, he is going to be very nice. Small ears, smooth head, and what appears to be an extreme face. All of Holly's babies are doing good. I am trying to stay out of the way and watch by camera instead. It appears she has plenty of milk since they are sleeping after they get filled up. We hopefully will create Holly's Nursery 2017 shortly. Till then, please check this page for updates. These babies are expected to leave around December 16, 2017.

Today we completed the Victorian Buggy Photo Shoots for both of Iris and Periwinkle's kittens. Iris's kittens are 3 1/2 weeks old and Periwinkle's kittens are 4 1/2 weeks old. They have a combined nursery for the last several weeks. The two litters are enjoying playing together. We are still working on weaning and potty training Perwinkle's kittens. We have just started doing the same with Iris's kittens. Tomorrow they get moved down to the Toddler Room since they have way out grown their Nursery. Litter Due Date: September 14-16, 2017
Hollyhock is confirmed pregnant. With Toy, they can have Blues, Creams and Lilacs as well as all the normal colors including Chocolate. You can see what they have produced in the past by going to Holly's Nurseries over the last three years. This will probably be her last litter and then we will be retiring her.
We expect these babies to leave around December 16, 2017, depending on when they are born.

Litter Born: August 17, 2017
Iris delivered her three chocolate babies on August 17th, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. She had two Himalayans (sex and color undetermined) and one male rare Red Chocolate. We should hopefully know more about the coloring of the Himis within a week. They can only be either Flame Points or Chocolate Points or Chocolate Tortie Points. Within the first 8 hours of their birth, all three babies had gained 10 grams each, which is awesome. Iris has plenty of milk and is always a great mommy. This was her first natural delivery for her. Her other delivers have been via C-Section. She was a trooper and passed the larger babies without any problems. We expect these babies to leave around November 17, 2017. We will be trying for a video on August 18th or shortly thereafter. We will also be starting Iris's Nursery 2017 for this litter shortly.

Periwinkle had her babies in the early morning hours of August 8, 2017. It was an easy natural delivery of 6 kittens. We are going to have to wait for color, sex and nose type. It does appear that there are some rare Bi-Color Himalayans in the litter. We are helping Periwinkle with feeding them so she does not feel so overwhelmed, especially since she is a first time mom. She is doing an awesome job so far. We will have photos and video in the next few days of the litter. We expect these babies to leave around November 8, 2017.

Iris is confirmed pregnant by Willie. Ultrasound is showing she has approxmately three kittens in the womb. She is a Chocolate Tortoiseshell Persian. We are expecting some of the following kittens:
50% Himalayans and 50% Persians
100% Chocolates in either Solids or Tortoiseshells, including Red Chocolates and Cream Chocolates
These are statistics over time. If delivery is around August 15, 2017, we expect these babies to leave around November 14, 2017.

Hard Day For Viola

Today was a hard day at the Cattery but more important, a very hard day for Viola and her two babies. Our sweet Viola had complications during labor and had to go in for a C-Section. Her babies were just too big to pass naturally. Unfortunately, here babies did not make it through the Vet's C-Section process. She is now recuperating at home.

Petunia had two gorgeous Himalayan boys. One is definitely a Seal Point Himalayan. The other one is probably a Chocolate Point Himalayan or a Seal Point Himalayan. Both appear to be Show Quality with good boning, smooth heads, small ears, extreme face, very long hair, and oh so cobby. Can't wait to see them mature. They were purring on the nipple within hours of their birth. That is a great sign of possibly lap kittens. We expect these babies to leave around September 27, 2017.

These are statistics over time. We do not know if Periwinkle is a dilute carrier or a chocolate carrier. If she is, we could also see Blues, Chocolates and Lilacs. If delivery is around August 5, 2017, we expect these babies to leave around November 4, 2017.

Periwinkle is confirmed pregnant by Toy. This will be her first litter. Since she is a Tortie Point, we are expecting some of the following kittens:
50% Himalayans and 50% Persians
Possibly Bi-Colors
Females: 50% Blacks and 50% Tortoiseshells
Males: 50% Blacks and 50% Reds
These are statistics over time. We do not know if Periwinkle is a dilute carrier or a chocolate carrier. If she is, we could also see Blues, Chocolates and Lilacs. If delivery is around August 5, 2017, we expect these babies to leave around November 4, 2017.

Iris's two chocolate boys had their Carriage Photo Shoot today. It was wild trying to get these two very active boys to stay still during the photo shoot. Archie is so fast ... lightening fast. You can see the full photo shoot in Iris's Nursery. Both boys leave next Wednesday for their new homes. We wish them the very best. Can't wait to see how they adjust to their new home life.

The Winn Feline Foundation has provided me with a progress report on how Dr. Meurs research is going into the markers for HCM Disease in the Persian and Himalayan breed. Sadly, they have not been able to find the markers. Please see the following from Winn Feline Foundation:
"W16-034: EVALUATION OF DNA VARIANTS ASSOCIATED WITH HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY IN THE PERSIAN CAT
After completing sequencing from the DNA of 7 affected Persians, Dr. Meur’s research group identified 274,202 DNA variants that could be associated with the development of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in the Persian. They sorted these variants based on genetic importance and the importance of the gene in the heart. They also evaluated the most promising variants in the laboratory by looking at them in additional affected Persians, unaffected Persians and unaffected non- Persians.
Unfortunately they have not identified a single variant that explains the presence of this disease in all affected Persians. The research group has found many that might explain the disease in some but not all Persians. This suggests that the breed very likely has at least two separate mutations that both can lead to the development of this disease. Although this does make this a more complicated problem, it is not insurmountable. They are now relooking at all of the data and trying to identify variants that are solid enough to believe they develop the disease in at least some cats. At this time they have not requested any additional funding but will continue to manipulate the data. As always, Dr. Meur’s greatly appreciates the support and dedication of the Winn Feline Foundation and the donors. They are very optimistic that somewhere within the data that they have exists a few Persian Cat HCM variants. They just need to be able to put the puzzle together."

I want to thank all the very special and loving people out there who have shown an overwhelming interest in our Special Needs kitten named Bart, after Bartimaeus in the BIble. It truly has warmed my heart and given me faith that there are good people still out there in this crazy world in which we live in. I have had a large amount of emails, phone calls, kitten applications, and even messages that have come in on Bart, showing an interest in this sweetie and possibly adopting him. He really is a special boy who has caught the hearts of so many loving and kind hearted people. He is now reserved for the home of the Fabulous Flame Brothers, Toshi and Jonah. They are one of our Adoptive Families. He is going to a great home. They are all going to have a blast together. Hold on to your hats in that household, the reds are in charge. LOL. His new name is ARCHIE. I think that is a good name for him. Thank you again everyone who has shown an interest in this active, very funny and sweet boy.

Hydrangea's babies are doing great. They are now eating wet food and are being potty trained. They are getting along very well with Iris's rambunctious boys. In fact, Hydrangea's black Persian plays very hard with them. They are both very cobby and sweet. It is hard to get black kittens to photograph since the camera automatically does not like to focus on such a dark color. A least you can see what they now look like. They are beauties. Enjoy. Iris's babies will be 5 weeks old this coming week. They are doing great. They are already potty training. We have been weaning them. We will be moving them down to the Toddler Room this coming week so that they have more space to run around and play. They were introduced to some smaller playstations this week. Iris's Red Chocolate who only has one eye is an absolute doll and doing great. He is learning to compensate for only one eye. He runs around like a little crazy man. We haven't gotten Iris's Nursery 2017 page up and running yet but hope to this following week. Enjoy their first photo shoot taken today after their first bath. This is a new buggy for photo shoots and it works great and keeping them contained. We are sure glad we found it. The babies did great during their bath and photo shoot.

PETUNIA AND MIRACLE'S LITTER BORN JANUARY 24, 2017
Time has flown so fast and now Petunia's babies are no longer babies. They leave for their new homes next week. Petunia and Miracle have really nice babies with great personalities. In this litter, each kitten had a different personality. I can't wait to watch them grown up. Chocolate Cosmos is staying as a future breeder for us. Hydrangea and Toy's Litter
Litter Born: April 10, 2017
Hydrangea had her litter this morning between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Her labor and delivery was very easy this time around even though the babies were very big. I used a special Calicium supplement that helped a lot. It is suppose to help with birthing/delivery issues and it definitely worked. She had an extreme face female Black and White Bi-Color (Small area of white under chin) Persian girl weighting 102.8 grams and a female Doll Face Black and White Bi-Color Persian weighting in at 105.5 grams. The one Bi-Color baby looks a lot like Stepp'nstone Diamond and it appears has the same personality of previous Stepp'nstone Bi-Colors. Both babies are perfect, which is a relief after the little boy in Iris's litter. I just got them settled in the Nursery. Hydrangea's milk is in thanks to the supplement. I am not going to weigh them again till 1:30 p.m. At that time, I will try for a picture and video which I will post to the Available Kittens page. So check back late this afternoon for it there. Hydrangea is in the birthing cage and Iris is in the same Nursery. Hope that does not bother Hydrangea. Iris's babies cry when they hear me, wanting to be petted and it bothers Hydrangea when babies cry.

I wanted to give you some quick updates. Petunia's kittens had their second RV camping trip last weekend. They did great and loved it. They had their 3 in 1 vaccine shot earlier so this time they got to go out in the stroller on two long walks at Falls Lake State Park in Durham. They truly enjoyed themselves. They were racing all over the RV ... including getting up real early to play. LOL.
Iris's babies are doing great. They are both way ahead of schedule. They are huge. Their eyes started to open the first week and by the end of the first week, they were up on two paws looking around. By week two, they had started walking. They are over 100 grams larger than Iris's babies last year. The Red Chocolate is a special needs baby. I am so glad he has the red gene in him because that makes him a fighter. I suspected he only had one eye when he was born but that was not confirmed until his eye opened and the other one did not. My Vet said not to put him to sleep because he deserved a good life and home and someone would want him. I agreed. He is learning to compensate for having only one eye. He is an ambitious baby and will not let that flaw keep him from his purpose. Both babies are very sweet. On Tuesday when they reach 3 weeks old, I will plan on doing their first photo shoot as well as their first video. They are now out of the nursing cage and into their nursing bed. I expect they will be getting out of the bed soon to start walking and exploring. They really are way ahead of the curve. That also means I will probably start the weaning process within the week.
I am staying close to Hydrangea now. She started to nest yesterday. Her last two litters she did not have till Day 67. Today is Day 66. So I expect she will have them today or tomorrow. By feeling her sides, I expect she may have three babies but I have been known to be wrong on more than one occasion. LOL.

Spring has definitely sprung at the Cattery with girls going in to heat. Holly went in to heat and is currently breeding our sweet Little Miracle. Periwinkle has now gone in to her second heat on the same day that Holly was in heat. Even though she is young, we thought it best to breed her now so Holly can help her later on with her babies if she needs it. Periwinkle was mated to Toy Drum. Now we will have to wait three weeks to see if Toy really did his job or was just fooling around. LOL.

Petunia's 5 week old kitten's Victorian Chamber Pot Photo Shoot is now available for viewing in Petunia's Nursery 2017. Time has flown by. This litter is awesome. Each kitten has a unique and precious personality and the photos really do not do them justice at all. Of course, my ear trimming did not go to well. LOL. The boy is a true lap kitten in every aspect. The doll face girl is super smart and quite the character. She really is a doll baby, though I term her a mini grown up adult. Our newest girl, Victoriangdn's Chocolate Cosmos, had a video done during her photo shoot. She is a character also. The Cattery has waited a long time for this solid chocolate female for our breeding program and we could not be happier. We will be starting picks on this litter hopefully this weekend. Today Petunia and Little Miracle's kittens turned 3 weeks old. We put them out on the floor for the first time so they can get practice walking around. They are so sweet. Several kneaded dough at various times during the video as you will see in this video. This week we will probably slowly start the weaning process. You can see the video on our YouTube Channel or in Petunia's Nursery 2017.

Litter Due Approximately: March 22, 2017
Iris has been confirmed pregnant by Miracle. This litter will be all Chocolates. Miracle adds a special sweet personality (lap kitten) to his kittens with great body type and coat factor. We expect approximately 50% Persians and 50% Himalayans in this litter. We do not know yet if Miracle is a dilute carrier since, up to date, he has only been bred to non-dilute girls. Iris is a dilute carrier.
If Miracle is a dilute carrier, this is what they can produce together:
FEMALES: 37.5% Chocolate, 12.5% Lilac, 37.5% Chocolate Tortoiseshell, 12.5% Lilac Tortoiseshell
MALES: 37.5% Chocolate, 12.5% Lilac, 37.5% Red Chocolate, 12.5% Cream Chocolate
If Miracle is not a dilute carrier, this is what they can produce together:
FEMALES: 50% Chocolate, 50% Chocolate Tortoiseshell

Petunia and Miracle's babies were born on the morning of January 24, 2017. They had three babies: a Chocolate Extreme Female Persian (107.5 grams), a Black Extreme Male Persian (101.4 grams) and a Black Female Persian (possibly Doll Face - 88.6 grams). This couple makes awesome personality babies as well as beautiful babies!! Within hours of their birth, they already have full bellies and were purring on the nipple. They will be ready to leave for their forever home around April 18, 2017. Until we create Petunia's Nursery 2017, you can read and see these babies on Our Cattery Blog 2017. You can see their picture on the Available Kittens page, as well as their video which was taken when they were 12 hours old.

Isaiah was a non-breeding member of our breeding program (helping to take our dams out of heat). Due to changes in our breeding program, we are able to offer this beautiful Persian male for adoption. He is a sweet, sensitive and easy going boy who gets along very well with all of our cats in our Cattery, so he is flexible to be an only child, or if you already have one or more cats in your home, he would be the perfect gentleman to join them. He has very gorgeous large copper eyes and a beautiful cream coat. We usually shave him in the summer time, so if your preference is for low maintenance during warm weather, he is used to, and tolerant of that. He is playful, and especially loves to play with the D'Bird. He likes being petted and loves to be loved. We are looking to find Sweet Isaiah a loving forever home where he will be cherished, loved and given the individual attention he deserves. Once he is adjusted in his new home, you will find him on the sofa, rolling over right beside you, wanting his belly rubbed. He is already neutered and ready for a loving forever home. Cattery Updates
January 23, 2017
We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Petunia and Miracle's babies. So far, Petunia is not in labor as of 6 p.m. She is soundly sleeping restlessly on my bed. I think the babies are really too active for her not to be restless. I will post pics as soon as they are born and she is safely in her Nursery with her babies. Hopefully she does not have to have a C-Section.
Iris was bred to Miracle early last week. I should know by February 7th, if she got pregnant. We will post her information on the Available Kittens page once she is confirmed pregnant.
On February 4, Periwinkle and Viola will be shown at the Norfork CFA Show. Would love to see our friends and family come out to the show. Viola will be shown in the Kitten Class and Periwinkle will be shown in the Open Class. I have to say, I dread giving Periwinkle a bath. Her coat is massive!! She has a super long and super thick coat. I am hoping for her to get her Championship status. Viola is along just to see how she does against other Persian kittens at the show. She really is a beauty, in my opinion. LOL.
And last bit of news ... Isaiah, our former Teaser Tom, had his neuter surgery the first week in January. He is a beautiful extreme face Cream Persian. He is now ready to be adopted. I will work on getting some updated pictures of Isaiah tomorrow. For now, I have his Victorian Carriage Photo when he was 13 weeks old. He is a Toy and Primrose baby. He just turned two years old in October. He is a sweetie. He loves all the girls and gets along with everyone. His hormones are already back to normal status. It was sad to see him around Iris last week. She was in heat but poor Isaiah just did not have the hormones to help her out. He just stayed close by her side while she was with him. Due to breeding the girls sooner between pregnancies, I felt the Cattery would no longer be in need of a Teaser Tom and that Isaiah would love to be in a regular home where he could have a lot of special love and attention.
